This house is located on the Mattaponi River, about 17 miles up
river from West Point. It is about 30 miles from Williamsburg and
Richmond, and about 1.5 hours from Washington DC. We have been
skiing and fishing here our entire lives. It is a fabulous river,
always calm water because of the winding nature of the river and
lack of boat traffic. Always quiet. Deep fresh water. The
Mattaponi runs parallel to the Pamunkey River and they meet to make
the York River. If you travel 30 minutes east, cruising at 25 mph
on the river you will be in salt water and able to catch salt water
fish.
Or you can fish off the 330' dock we own and catch rock fish,
crapie, bass, walleye, catfish, white and yellow perch....We have a
boat lift and dock that you can use. You can also bring your canoe
and take a nice paddle from hwy 360 back to the house and catch fish
all day. If you're a skier you will not endure the LAKE ANNA
madness of sea doos and boats going round and round. Also you won't
encounter stinging jelly fish, barnacles, and other salt water
pests. Most of the river is undeveloped because of the Indian
reservations and farms. The local Indian reservations make a great
day/half day trip.The property is about 30 miles from Richmond &
Williamsburg and 1.5 hours from DC. 30 min from Kings Dominion.
The house is new as of 05/01/05, hardwood throughout, stone counter
tops in a complete kitchen, all ceramic baths, central heat and a/c,
solid stained doors and trim. The back of the
house has huge sliding windows that over look the big sky and
the river. The house sits 20 yards from river and about 30' above
the river! Spectacular sunsets & sunrises!

Satellite high speed internet access, gas grill, kayak, brand new
house, 330' dock (longer than a football field) that you can fish
from both sides. Boat house
with lift, Jacuzzi tub, New Plasma TV with direct TV with hundreds of stations, DVD player,

"fresh water" water skiing ( no jelly fish), fishing both fresh and
salt water. Visiting the indian museums/reservations of the
pamunkey and mattaponi. Canoe trips from Aylett, golf course with
driving range 15 min from house. 30 minutes to Kings Dominion.
45 minutes to Richmond, 45 minutes to Williamsburg with tons of
Outlets/Busch Gardens/Water Country USA, 25 minutes to
Mechanicsville. If you have a motorcycle there is a great ride that
runs in a loop that takes you to west point and back, great views of
the mattaponi and the pamunkey, low traffic
back roads.
