Vacation Rental Description

This expertly detailed Florida cottage fits superbly into its 
traditional costal community blending the best of local influences 
and adaptations, and building methods. This palette includes 
standing-seam metal roofing, stained wood plank siding, French 
doors, high ceilings, and deep porches.

Designed by noted Yale-trained "new urbanism" architect Robert Orr, 
this house was inspired by colonial cottages built in the Dutch West 
Indies in the late 1800s. Wide porches shielding interior rooms from 
direct sunlight, muted colors, and interior shutters are signature 
elements of this beachfront cottage. The main living rooms are open 
and spacious on the second floor and seamlessly extend onto porches 
at both ends via four sets of French doors. There are four 
incredibly kid-friendly nautical themed bunks and two bedrooms on 
the first floor. The master suite occupies the "crows nest" on the 
third floor, and has views of the sea. The kitchen is a place for 
family gatherings with abundant counter space and two over-sized 
sinks and gracious dark green custom cabinetry. 

The second floor has a beautiful library full of beach- and ocean-
themed adult and children's books built around a day bed that you 
will not want to leave. There are four bathrooms, two on the first 
floor, one on the second floor, and one on the third floor, and an 
outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach. The three 
story staircase is an architectural master piece. The house is well-
equipped with entertainment technology including televisions, 
stereos, internet connectivity, and games and puzzles of all sorts. 
The house is surrounded with beautifully landscaped luscious 
tropical vegetation. 

This property is ideally positioned in Rosemary beach, adjacent to 
the beach, a children's park, the most fabulous pool in Rosemary (of 
four), eight clay-surfaced and lighted expertly maintained tennis 
courts, an indoor (with retractable roof) fitness pool, and a first-
class fitness center. The tennis and fitness facilities are fully 
staffed with first class professional support and organized 
activities. All of these amenities are within a 2 minute leisurely 
stroll of this home.

Inspired by the small, waterfront towns of the Caribbean, Rosemary 
Beach was realized by a skilled group of planners, architects and 
local craftsmen. Its neighborhoods form an intricate patchwork: 
Singular homes, open spaces and intimate courtyards, woven together 
by lanes, sand paths and boardwalks. Rosemary Beach and some of its 
very near town neighbors (e.g., Seaside and Alys Beach are within a 
few minutes drive or bike ride) are at the US architectural vanguard 
for "new urbanism", and attract architects and town designers who 
are interested in "new urbanism". 

Time- and climate- tested building traditions from the West Indies 
and American South combine with a rich palette of colors and 
architectural forms. Deep eaves, shuttered sleeping porches and 
hipped roofs are both beautiful and functional. High ceilings allow 
sea breezes to circulate; open balconies offer space to appreciate 
the sounds of the gentle surf. The vegetation is unique to this area 
and is stunningly beautiful, and includes as you might expect - 
abundant wild rosemary.

The beaches at Rosemary Beach and through this region of Florida are 
considered to be the best in the mainland United States. The sand is 
pure white and extremely fine and powdering. The water is the most 
beautiful constantly shifting shades of tropical Caribbean blue you 
can imagine, and is delightfully warm for swimming and other water 
activities, particularly in the summer months. 

The fishing is world class throughout this part of Florida, and 
includes shallow and deep, freshwater and salt, fly and other 
tackle, with more remote and fascinating places than you could 
explore in a lifetime. 

Golf is very popular, and like fishing - there are more courses 
(30+) within a 15-30 minute drive (or bike ride!) than you could 
hope to master in years. In the immediate area of Rosemary Beach, 
there are two world class golf courses within a 5 minute drive.

(snorkeling and scuba), biking, tennis, bird watching, biking,
