vacation rental description

Renter comments, MANY FROM VACATIONERS RETURNING FOR THE SECOND,
THIRD AND FOURTH TIMES.....

We enjoyed your house very much!  Everything was perfect!  The house, the beach, porches, the views!  Felt like we were in Paradise!  Thanks so much and we hope to return sometime soon!  May 2010

Thank you very much Irene! Everything was wonderful. The views are unreal and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I don't really want to leave! I am going to miss waking up to that view!!  May 2010

My family, myself, and my fellow teachers who visited at various times ABSOLUTELY loved the serenity and peacefulness of being at your beach house. July 2009

We just got home. Thank you very much! We had a great time!! The only regret is that we didn't have more time. My nephew was home from college for the weekend so I finally had a chance to do some fishing with him... We had red drum, whiting, spanish mackerel, and tons of bluefish. I hope we get a chance to do it again next year.  October 2009

We spent a wonderful time at your house and enjoyed our stay very much.
The ocean was very warm and we loved to walk on the beach collecting shells or watching dolphins.
Also with the ping pong table we had lots of fun.
South Ponte Vedra Beach is a great location to get away from business and just enjoy nature.
I'm sure we'll  try to come back for vacation, soon :-)  August 2009 -(vacationers from Germany)

From some world travelers: After a while it gets to be a bit hectic which is why the
high point (of the year) was spending some time at the Salerno's house on the beach.
It was relaxing and peaceful to watch the dolphins jump and feed; pelicans glide just
above the surface of the water - when they feed they extend their lower jaw, plopping
in the water as they catch the fish; other birds diving vertically. The house is far from
any city so we were able to see the stars like we hadn't in years....The Milky Way...
just a myriad of pinpoints that you can't quite focus on.

I just wanted to let you know how much fun we had at your beautiful beach house.   It
was the absolute best vacation my family has ever had.   My kids loved the beach and
were able to find a lot of shark's teeth and fantastic shells.   They want to return to
the beach house again next year, but they want to stay longer!

My family still cannot stop talking about the beach house - months later. It was the
best family vacation we ever had. I wanted to see if we could reserve a couple of
weeks (for next summer.)

We really enjoyed your beach house. We lived outside on the decks and the beach.
What I loved was that no matter where you stand in the house, there is a view of the
ocean.....You will probably be hearing from us again!

"We had a great time at your beach house!!!... We saw several schools of
dolphin and loved watching the birds diving for fish... My husband and 8 year old
fished and caught quite a few fish within minutes of putting their lines in the water."

activities and attractions in Ponte Vedra Beach Atlantic Coast North

Your own dune walkover takes you directly from the deck to the beach where
you can enjoy swimming, surfing, fishing, running and walking. In town,
kayaks are available for daily or weekly rental. Launch right out your back
door and kayak in the middle of dolphins or take your kayak 1 mile down the
road and explore Guana Lake. The park has a newly opened Marine Science Museum
and Education Center. The day we went the telescope was set up to view the bald
eagle pair in their nest. Also available in the state park are miles of
trails great for walking, running, or mountain-bike riding. The park is full of
wildlife; in winter migrating birds are plentiful, year round you’re likely to see
wild boors and armadillos.

This home is located approximately 20 minutes from St. Augustine.
Here you can visit the Castillo De San Marcos National Monument. Walk
down St. George Street and visit the restored Spanish homes and shops.
Take a guided carriage tour of the historic district. Dine at a variety of restaurants,
from fresh seafood to continental cuisine.

For a more recent historical experience visit Florida’s first commercial
attraction built in the 1950s, Marineland. While in this area visit
Fort Matanzas and Washington Oaks State Park.

Other historical sites abound in the "First Coast" area.
Take a short trip to Ft. Caroline National Monument, Ribault Park, Kingsley
Plantation and Ft. Clinch, where history reenactors take you back in time--
a quick ferry ride from Mayport across the St. Johns River. While on
this stretch of north Florida islands, visit Fernandina Beach.

Rainy Day? Outlet Malls are a short drive, as is the World Golf Village where
you can visit the golf museum or relax at the IMAX movie.

Twenty minutes north you are in Ponte Vedra Beach, home of the American
Tennis Professionals. Tournament Players Championship is a world class
golfing event that takes place every spring. If football is your
sport, the Jacksonville Jaguars play in downtown Alltel Stadium.

While downtown take a ride on the Skyway. For 30 cents you can get a bird's eye
view of downtown. Stroll the Riverwalk from downtown to historic Five Points and
enjoy the river. Walk across the river and ride the water taxi back. Kids love MOSH
(right by the big fountain and pool across from the Landing) an interactive science
and history museum. Eat outdoors at the Landing. Visit the Cummer Museum nearby;
the children's interactive art area is fabulous!

Be sure to check out the Northeast Florida activities book in the house. Not only does
it list everything, it has discount admissions for many family activities! You will not
be disappointed.

Wonderful Stay

Terri (Thornton, CO)
Review submitted: May 3, 2011   Date of arrival: April 28, 2011

We enjoyed our stay here at Sand dance, beautiful sunrise from the bedroom balcony. We even got to see a turtle nest which they marked that very morning. We made sand castles galore and enjoyed the boogie boards and walking on the beaches. What a difference to go to Jacksonville Beach for a day and come back to the quiet of our own "private" beach. We all just loved it and with lots of things for the grand kids to do it was just wonderful. The house had everything we needed and the pictures are just what we got. We enjoyed "Caps on the Water" for dinner one night and went into Jacksonville to "Slidders" for tons of Oysters. Thank you so much for sharing your place with us. Terri

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Terri,
Glad you enjoyed your stay. I am so jealous that you got to see a new turtle nest. As many times as we have been at the house ourselves, I have not yet seen a newly mounded nest with the females tracks to and from the water. Come back in 60 days and maybe you can catch the hatchlings trek to the ocean, usually during a full moon! I have also never seen a whale out there although I have had guests tell me of sightings.
Being surrounded by Guana Preserve, our "neighborhood" is quiet and removed. But it is great to have the Jacksonville Beaches just a short drive away. So many good restaurants and things to do. The outdoor amphitheater on the ocean in Jax Beach has something going on almost every weekend: free movies on the big screen, symphony concerts, and various festivals.
I hope you come back to enjoy yet another season with us.

Sand Dance

mimi (jacksonville,fl usa)
Review submitted: March 8, 2011   Date of arrival: February 26, 2011

Our stay at Sand Dance was marvelous!!! The owners of the property were so kind and accommodating. We not only enjoyed the ocean but took full advantage of Guana State Park and chartered a sailboat at St. Augustine Yacht Club for a fun packed day sail. We will be back next year for more fun!!!!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing

Owners response: Glad you enjoyed Guana Park which is really the "Secret Jewel" of our area: so much to see and do... and so close! The chartered sailboat sounds like quite an exciting adventure. Next year try the kayak tours in Guana, a bit less speed and a little more exercise. A wonderful, quiet nature experience and the guides have unlimited knowledge.

See you next year...

Review submitted: February 26, 2011   Date of arrival: November 13, 2010

It was great being back at the beach house. It’s like returning to our second home. We always enjoy getting away during “mud season” and the kids kept talking about their sand, block and Lego structures during the trip south. Loved the latest changes you’ve made -- the bedroom carpeting, the extra bed in the 3rd bedroom, the new gas grill and the Wi-Fi!! It’s such a great help that you have the bikes and we don’t have to load our own. Thanks for keeping things the same and thanks for the latest changes! See you next year. Judy, Red Hook, NY
