Vacation Rental Description

For Londoners who really know their city, Highgate is one of the
capital’s most coveted addresses. Just four miles from the bustling
downtown area, the neighbourhood is only a short bus or tube ride
from all of London's attractions. Highgate’s green open spaces and
villagey feel combine the very best that the capital has to offer.
All of which probably explains why some of the UK’s biggest
celebrities (George Michael, Pierce Brosnan and Sting, among others)
have discreetly made Highgate their London base.

One of the few remaining historic Villages of London, Highgate was
once home to Dick Whittington and has thrived since the 16th
Century. It was the location of one of the original "Gates of
London" - taxed points of entry to the growing metropolis. As a
result, this unique and historic area of the city retains many of
its original pubs and inns. Highgate’s renowned cemetery is the
resting place for Charles Dickens, TS Eliot, Coleridge and Karl Marx
among many other significant historical figures. Highgate's secret
Waterlow Park contains the 16th Century haunt of Charles
II 'Lauderdale House' where the King secretly met with his mistress
Nell Gwynn.

Kenwood, one of London’s most beautiful parks, is close by and
boasts the stunning stately Kenwood House as its centrepiece. The
House was, until recently, owned by the Guinness brewing family and
is home to one of London’s finest art collections including
masterpieces by Rembrandt and Vermeer, the only portrait of Jane
Austen known to exist and the world famous collection of Adams
furniture. Hampstead Heath, another beautiful London park, is just a
short stroll from the property.

Appropriately enough for such a historic part of London, the house
was built in 1721. Indeed the history of this elegant Georgian
cottage records that its original owner designed and built the
property for the use of visitors to the city of London. So, it
really was purpose built for you the vacation renter– almost 300
years ago!

The house is ideal for a family or party of friends travelling to
London. Within its own front door, the property offers a haven of
luxury, independence and privacy whilst still being within a 30-
minute tube or bus ride of the bustling centre of London.

Located on a residential street, the house is within a few minutes
stroll of seven cafes, five restaurants, great shopping and
excellent tube and bus connections into the centre of the city. If
you’re feeling fit and the weather is fine, it is only a 35 minute
walk!

Three double bedrooms, all with plenty of storage space, a deluxe
sofa bed and two en-suite bathrooms means the property sleeps six to
eight comfortably and luxuriously. The master bedroom (with king
size bed) occupies the entire top floor and encompasses a small roof
terrace overlooking the rooftops of London. The en-suite bathroom is
spacious with separate bathtub and power shower cubicle. A second
double bedroom (with king size bed) also has an en-suite bathroom
with bathtub and integrated power shower. The third bedroom (with
king sized bed) is light and spacious. Each of the three king sized
beds are equipped with the ultimate guarantee of a blissful nights
sleep: a tempur mattress, which gently moulds to the shape of your
body and is recommended for bad backs and jet lag. Together with the
finest bed linen you’ll be as comfortable, if not more, than you are
in your own bed.

A large fully equipped kitchen includes dishwasher, microwave and
oven and a small table, perfect for breakfast or a snack. While
integrated Bosch washing and drying machines enable guests to keep
on top of their laundry. The kitchen opens onto a small patio garden
at one end and a separate dining room (seating eight) at the other.
A living area with flat screen TV, DVD, cable TV and high speed
wireless Internet offers the comfort, convenience and privacy of
home in this unique and historic London property.
