Mount Dora is known as the Antique Capital of Florida and is just minutes away from "Renningers Antique Twin Markets" where you can spend a
day or two junking for treasures.

A new event in Mount Dora is the "Ghost Tours" that happen on the weekends in downtown Mount Dora.  Participants start at the Royellou Museum ("Royellou" was the original name of Mount Dora named after the three children of one of the town's founders -- Roy, Ella and Lou)..the Royellou Historical Museum is in an alley between Baker Street and Donnelly Street and between Fifth and Fourth Avenues.  A Tour guide dressed in funeral garb carrying a lantern leads the tour throughout areas of downtown for about an hour's tour.  Mount Dora is an older town and buildings like the Lakeside Inn have had colorful guests of former Presidents and even, Al Capone  since the late 1800s so there are many local ghost stories to tell.  The event is fun... watch for the local hearse with the lighted skeleton in the back window to drive by!   A great place to finish the Ghost Tour is the nearby Wine Den just around the corner where you can share your ghostly stories !

Nov 7-8 15th Annual Mount Dora Plant & Garden Fair

Location: Simpson's Cove (waterfront)
Description: Located at Simpson s Cove downtown Mount Dora. Admission is free. Central Florida's top growers bring more than 12,000 plants. The event features orchid growers and includes native plants, butterfly-attracting perennials, herbs, roses, camellias, and begonias with a complete selection of rare and unusual tropical plants. Garden antiques, festive flags and unusual containers are also a focus.

Nov 13 Dec 13 Mount Dora Theatre Company Presents: Little Women, the Musical

Description: A coming-of-age tale of the four March sisters midst the Civil War, with book by Allan Knee, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and music by Jason Howland.
