The Garden Suite is a ground floor, a 1 Bedroom 1 Bathroom, 440 Square Foot Living Space. The convertible living room transforms into a second sleeping area in seconds by use of a double futon with a privacy curtained sleeping cubicle. Couples on romantic getaways, families with small children, & corporate travelers have found the flexibility of the Garden Suite ideal for the various needs of budget conscious travelers. Sleeping arrangements for 1 - 4 persons.

A traveler to Jacksonville Beach has a multitude of accommodation options. Each property when viewed on the Internet can appear to be much the same as the next. We believe the small details and personal service make the difference. Hotels are often staffed by employees without passion for their product, or Vacation Rental properties managed by distant owners hoping to simply to cover the cost of their own vacation home, with the client's needs coming second. La Palmeraie is different than the rest.

We, as the owner/managers of La Palmeraie have 15 years of extensive worldwide business travel experience to call upon to understand the needs and wants of our clientele. For our own personal travel needs we only use vacation rentals and boutique hotels, giving us positive & negative experiences from the traveler's perspective. The considerations to & the indulgences for our guests are a reflection of cumulative experience as clients.

Pets are important members of any family; we welcome the dogs & cats in your party with dangerous breed exceptions.

Our guest's comfort & safety are our paramount concerns. We use only 620 thread count bed linens and Egyptian cotton bath linens. Our linens never come in contact with chlorine bleach in deference to sensitive skin & environmental concerns. Our linens are soaked in a Woolite solution for 24 hours and then cold water laundered.

Unlike many hotels and vacation rental properties our cleaning service never "tops up" the clean linen count in a suite. Every single thread of bed and bath linens, including duvet covers are removed to be laundered and replaced with an all new stock of sanitized linens. A Florida beach house originally constructed in 1933, as the family abode for the then mayor Gonzalez. In 2004 La Palmeraie was extensively renovated, commencing an entirely new chapter in this historic home's story.

The house is divided into 3 apartments, each with their own discrete separate entrance to ensure each guest's privacy. The ground floor of the house is comprised of the Master Suite, and the Garden Suite. The entire second floor is occupied by the Executive Suite.

During the extensive renovation process, entirely new kitchens and bathrooms were installed in each unit. All infrastructure systems were replaced with the highest efficiency equipment available. When possible, the period original treatments in each suite have been refurbished to preserve the character of the space while adding high standards of modern design, features & conveniences.

The Living Room area has double futon with privacy curtains for increased sleeping capacity, a 32 Inch LCD Television with DVD Player, Audio System & iPod dock.  Our complimentary guest DVD Library is a collection of critically acclaimed films. A selection of card & board games are available. Enjoy the latest volume of La Palmeraie Quarterly, our podcast for your listening pleasure.

The galley Kitchen is equipped with stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffeemaker, toaster, sink disposal, herbs & spices, cooking oil, condiments, coffee, tea, creamer and other kitchen stock basics. A workstation gives more counter workspace or a great spot for to catch up on your email with a coffee while using the Ethernet port. 12 Place Settings provided.

Step outside to your al fresco dining area with seating for 4 in your
own 20 Foot by 50 Foot fenced privacy fenced & tropically landscaped
courtyard with a shade fabric canopy. Relax in the double hammock in
the shade and feel the ocean breezes. Use the gas grill to make dinner
or simply set a mood with the dimmable lighting and enjoy your nightcap.

Leave your private tropical oasis to the shared garden entertainment
area with seating for 10 around the stone firepit. Relax under a shade
canopy on the hammock or swing seat.

Mike's place was very nice. It was comfortable and everything we could want was there. The kitchen was well stocked with enough extras that we were able to pick up main ingredients and cook our meals in. Mike is super friendly and goes the extra mile to make sure you have what you need. The space was well decorated. Big supply of movies for relaxing in the evenings. It was a very nice vacation for us and our 4 year old son!

I enjoyed staying at this property. It was very comfortable and clean. It is located in a great area on the beach, and close to everything you need. I had dinner at the 3rd street diner, and it is really nice. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon, and liked it so much, that we came back. We will come back again. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Recommended for: families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Facililty Uninhabitable and Customer Service Unimaginably poor

Called owner to advise that heat was not working within two hours of arrival. Overnight temperature in low 50s and as low as freezing during our scheduled stay. All three heat pumps in La Palmeria were not working and at least the one in the garden suite needed to be replaced. Replacement not done, which we expected to be a problem because it was the holiday but the owner refused to release us from contract. The owner had two space heaters left unopened on our stoop. When we plugged them in per manufacturers instructions, the circuits blew leaving us in the dark, Again she did not answer my first call so we went to hotel. Upon learning we had gone to hotel she ordered the unit cleaned and said she would refund us if she found another tennant for the unheated unit. W were not surprised that she wasn't able to do that. In addition, I'd had to clean the refrigerator upon arrival and we found the space and furnishings very uncomfortable. We have filed complaint with BBB and will seek other recourse

Owners response: The first cold snap of the year came on Christmas Eve and of course that’s when we found out the Garden Suite system needed to be fully replaced. The contractor inspected it immediately and the system was replaced as soon as the holiday schedule allowed. We agreed to give the guests a credit for the inconvenience on their first night and we provided alternative heating, which the guests deemed acceptable. However, they insisted they needed both space heaters in the same room and called us as soon as the breaker tripped to say they were leaving. We offered to reset the breaker and advised that they use one heater per room, but they insisted on leaving.

As a landlord of a vacation rental business of 8-years, we know that sometimes there are some maintenance issues that we can’t control, but we always stay in communication, make every effort to resolve the situation quickly and try to make our guests as comfortable as possible by offering alternative solutions. We did all of the above when the heater failed recently and I can reassure our potential guests that we try extremely hard to provide an enjoyable vacation rental experience for every one of our guests.
