Enjoyable

pmm (Boynton,FL)
Review submitted: August 17, 2010   Date of arrival: August 22, 2009

Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly and shown around the well kept grounds. We each had our own room for our party of four upstairs with anything we could need downstairs in the kitchen and family room. -Including brochures on local activities and beautiful waterfalls to view. The owners could not have been more informative with directions and options for recreation including use of their own paddle boat on the lake. Being near the outpost, we had an adventure on the rapids which we thoroughly enjoyed. After antiquing in the nearby town, we relaxed in the hot tub roomy enough for us all and more. Big thanks to the Fisher's for sharing their knowledge of the area and their chalet! We had an enjoyable time!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet-friendly, sight seeing

Owners response: We are glad U liked how fully equiped we keep the kitchen. This is great for cooking home cooked meals away from home. There are nice spots to eat out also. Hope you tried the Dakota Grill on Hwy 28. Steaks, seafood and Mexican. Can't get any better than that! Plus home made deserts by the owner.Glad the brochures were helpful!

There is allot to see here just not the rafting. Hope you found some treasures in Walhalla while shopping the antique shops there.

Glad you remember your great stay of over a year ago. ya'll come back now.

Thanks for taking the time to write it up.

We appreciate all the good feedback!

vacation cabin near Chattooga River

mel (new orleans, LA, USA)
Review submitted: August 1, 2010   Date of arrival: July 26, 2010

Our family of seven, incluiding 5 teenagers, had a great time during our three night stay at Steve and Sherry's cabin. The cabin is located about 15-20 minutes from the Wildwater Outpost. Steve provided directions to the Wildwater Outpost and to Issaqueena Falls and White Water Falls, which are also located about 15-20 minutes from the cabin. Isaqueena Falls requires an extremely short hike(tough and longer if you try to get to the bottom) but also offers a tunnel for exploration. White Water Falls requires a 45 minute hike (1 1/2 miles each way). The hike was challenging for the 5 teenagers and their parents, but we did not find the hike dangerous. Steve and Sherry also took the teenagers out into the middle of the lake, which is walking distance, aboard their pontoon boat for a swim.
The house is well-maintained and in great condition. The kitchen was stocked better than any condominium that we have ever rented, but we recommend that you purchase any food you intend to cook before you reach the area. Direct TV had good reception altought our Sprint phones did not, so make all your calls ahead of time. The hot tub was first-rate and used by us every night. We can recommend this rental for anyone wanting to spend a couple of days on the Chattooga River or hiking in the great outdoors. Steve and Sherry live nearby and were great hosts.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet-friendly

Owners response: We're glad you had plenty of room for your group of 7 and glad you kept so busy while you were here! Glad the maps worked out well for you also!

Feel free to use the phone there for any long distance calls in US to keep in touch with friends and family.

The waterfalls are one of the main attractions here along with the rafting on the Chattooga River and we are glad you were able to visit both main waterfalls and also go rafting in one trip1

Next time you can try trout fishing.

BTW: "Whitewater Falls" is the highest East of the Mississippi. Hope you took allot of pictures.

Thanks for saying the place was well stocked in the kitchen area, we try to have it set up so you feel comfortable cooking anything you would like to cook. With teenagers this is good since it saves on buying meals out. Dakota Grill has fantastic food ( Mexican and Ameican dishes with onsite homemade deserts) if you want eat out upscale, and the Mtn. Rest cafe is open now and it is just a mile from the private entrance gate. Less than 10 minutes.

We keep the place spotless so you can just enjoy your vacation time without worrying if the place you will be staying is clean or not.

We enjoyed taking out your group on our pontoon boat along with our grand daughter. Such a peaceful time swimning on the lake being able to see the mountains so close. It worked out well for us also and gave you time to find where you were headed the next morning for rafting.

Keep us in mind the next time you will be wanting to come to this area and tell a friend too.

Thanks for leaving such a nice Review. :)

Steve and Sherry.

Relaxation

Koolaide (Aiken, sc)
Review submitted: July 14, 2010   Date of arrival: July 2, 2010

Private gated community on a 65 acer lake with gravel roads close to the chatooga river and plenty of outdoor activities. This property is close to but not on lake. We drove our kayaks down to common area and were floating on lake at night with people collected on dam with fireworks galore on the 4th.
No verizon reception, old TV, second and third bedrooms are small. Owners live in property is on site, several small sheds.
Clean comfortable all necessities present. Satelite TV and outdoor jacuzzi great.
Two teenage girls wanted to come back but wanted a large screen to play WII at night. And would have liked a better lake "beach".
Closest shopping town is walhalla.
Activities include sightseeing, several waterfalls in driving distance. Lake keowee, Jocasee and hartwell within about one hour drive or less. blackberry and blue berry picking were great at the time we went.
White water rafting ( chatooga since nantahalla requires a drive.) Zip line near by. Did not have enough time to explore to comment on many of the activities. I would go back and would consider getting a place near by due to all the outdoor adventures possible in that area.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet-friendly, sight seeing

Owners response: We keep the place fully equiped so you can cook anything you desire. Our main goal is "no surpises" when you arrive and it is kept spotless.

We live on the property and guests find this advantageous if they have any additional needs or driving directions to area attractions. We have retired here and enjoy the area and people.

Guests are left alone with all the privacy one would expect on a vacation.

We are in the center off allot of activities especially rafting the Chattooga River.

You will love your stay here. Come visit us!
