Fripp Island is a beautiful private island located 19 miles from
downtown Beaufort and a world away from crowds, traffic, and stress.
The entire island is a Wildlife Sanctuary. Our natural treasures
include loggerhead turtles which steal ashore at night from May to
August to nest. Dolphins often can be sighted from the Fripp bridge
and the 18th hole of Ocean Point Golf Links. Deer, gulls, osprey,
egrets, storks, kingfishers, and herons abound on the island and you
may even spot an occasional bald eagle (in Spring) and an alligator
resting by a pond. The Audubon Club maintains a trail to view
wildlife, plants, and birds.

Trade your car in for a bicycle or golf cart and enjoy a slower pace
of life. Fripp island is only three and a half miles long and one
mile wide, so it never takes long to get anywhere. Captain John
Fripp Villa 101 is located oceanfront in the heart of the Island on the best beach area.

Amenity cards may be purchased at time of booking which allow access to two island golf
courses, ten tennis courts, swimming pools, restaurants, a
fitness center, recreation activities (fishing, crabbing, and
shrimping), Island excursions (sunset boat trips, shelling, dolphin
watch, and other cruises), and rentals of boats, bicycles, kayaks,
scooters, and golf carts, and several shops. Camp Fripp for ages 3-
12, includes daily activities like crabbing, shelling, crafts and
all kinds of educational programs to help the children learn more
about nature.

For the avid golfer, Fripp offers two exceptionally beautiful and
challenging golf courses. One was designed by George Cobb and
features spectacular oceanfront views (the 18th hole is located just
steps away), while the other was designed by PGA champion Davis Love
III. Fripp Island has an extensive leisure trail system that winds
through the property. These trails are ideal for bicycling, jogging,
walking, and roller blading.

Fripp Island is located off the coast of Beaufort, South Carolina,
the site of many historic homes. Famous movies such as "The Big
Chill," "The Great Santini," "The Prince of Tides," "Forrest Gump,"
and "The Jungle Book" have had scenes filmed in Beaufort and on
Fripp. The author, Pat Conroy owns a home on Fripp. Fine and casual
dining can be found in Beaufort.

Shopping is available in many specialty boutiques on and off the
waterfront. Festivals include the Spring Garden Walk, Soft Shell
Craft Festival in April, A Taste of Beaufort in early May, Gullah
Festival during Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day on July 4,
Water Festival in July, the Shrimp Festival in October, the Fall
Festival of Houses & History, Heritage Days in November, Holiday
events in December, Black History Month in February, and Great Chefs
of the South in late February. See Beaufort South Carolina website
for more information.

Fripp Island is just 1.25 hours north of Savannah, Georgia and two
hours south of Charleston, South Carolina. Hunting Island State Park
is just across the Fripp Island bridge with bike trails, nature
walks, miles of beach, and the Hunting Island Lighthouse. Our family
has vacationed and lived in Fripp for more than 30 years. We have
fallen in love with Fripp Island, and we know you will too.

Great Family Vacation

4 T's (Alabama)
Review submitted: August 7, 2011   Date of arrival: July 30, 2011

Right on the beach--no long boardwalks here. This place was great! It was especially nice to have the beach chairs and two adult bikes to ride. The place was clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. The wildlife on the island was like no other beach location we've seen. The owners were wonderful to accommodate our last minute booking. We hope to return one day.

PERFECT RELAXING VACATION

Lenna and Joe (Mount Airy, Maryland)
Review submitted: August 7, 2011   Date of arrival: July 23, 2011

I had not been to Fripp Island in 19 years but have always had fond memories of spending a week their with extended family in one of the large houses on the beach. When planning for a well needed vacation my husband and I decided we wanted a beach vacation - something we had not done in a while (we usually travel to the National Parks and spend time driving a lot) but this time wanted a quiet, relaxed week and that is certainly what we found at Fripp. Things have changed a little - there are more houses and there were no condos I recall in the early 1990's or restaurants, but so much had not changed. It is still quiet, not crowded, quaint, beautiful beach, turtle rescue groups and pleasant people wherever we went. Enjoyed all the deer - the last nite of our stay I walked out on patio and there were 5 just standing on the grass! We rented a one bedroom condo at Captain John Fripp Villlas - it was directly on the beach - literally just a few steps and your feet were in the sand. We spent most of our days laying on the beach, taking long walks, gathering shells, and then spending time at the adult pool (which we loved since we don't have kids and again, were looking for QUIET). At nite the walks on beach were amazing with the quiet, few lights on b/c of turtles, and AMAZING star lit skies. We had one and 1/2 rainy days and spent time in Beaufort and Hilton Head. Wonderful restaurants on nearby Islands with good recommendations from the owners of our villa. The villa was immaculate, beautifully decorated and an ambience that made you feel right at home. The owners of the villla were wonderful and so pleasant to work with in helping plan our trip. They called when we arrived and the night before we left to be sure everything was okay. What a nice touch! We plan to return to our new found beach spot and would certainly rent the same villa if available. I am from the South so loved being back drinking sweet tea and homemade banana pudding and I was able to convince my Northern husband that the South isn't so bad - he is still talking about what a wonderful vacation we had!
