Located in the small, secluded fishing village of Wenona, at the southern end of Deal Island, MD. "Pieceful" Cottage sits just 100 yards back from the Chesapeake Bay. This is your chance to enjoy a truly relaxing getaway and a view of the most spectacular sunsets over the Chesapeake Bay.

We just finished our kitchen re-model.  New paint, a new kitchen island and a beautiful new silestone counter top and granite sink.  More room for food prep and eating.  It's beautiful!

"Pieceful Cottage" enjoyed an addition of two new bedrooms, a second full bathroom with a whirlpool tub, and a large two story deck in 2008.   The deck features a screened-in lower deck and a private upper deck with 270 degree view of the bay and harbor. From the upper deck, you will find one of the best sunset views of the bay. We love to sit and relax with a glass of wine from this deck, at the end of the day. To the southwest, the lights of Smith Island twinkle in the distance. And on a clear night, the stars shine brightly without the distraction of the city lights.

Deal Island is a historic fishing village on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Home of the Skipjack festival each September. It is an ideal location for sport fishing, kayaking, and biking. The Deal Island Wildlife Management area protects the birds and other wildlife and provides ideal areas for birding and canoeing.

Nearby Deal Island Wildlife Refuge is a real birder's paradise. You can hike the marked trails or paddle your canoe or kayak through the marshes. Or bike from the cottage to the refuge and enjoy the sights along the way. Bring your own equipment or we'll put you in touch with local outfitters.

There is a free public boat ramp, located just behind the cottage, in picturesque Wenona Harbor. Bring your own boat and trailer, so you can spend the days fishing and the nights relaxing at the cottage. Wenona is a real waterman's harbor where historic Skipjacks still work for their daily catch of oysters from September to April and the crabs run all summer. The Skipjack race in Deal Island Harbor is an Annual Event held each Labor Day weekend.

The fishing in Tangier Sound is well known, with anglers bringing in a large variety of fish, including Striped Bass (or Rockfish). A number of charter fishing boats run out of Wenona Harbor. Just ask and we'll help you make a reservation.

Summer is crab season, when you can enjoy a day on the water, catch your own Maryland crabs, and bring them home for dinner. Steam them in Old Bay Seasoning and beer, then enjoy eating your catch at the large picnic table on the screened-in lower deck.

You will find a small public beach in the Deal Island Harbor, where you can swim, fish, or collect sea shells and sea glass. We always bring our dog along with us for a swim.

If you are missing the ocean, Ocean City, Maryland, and Chincoteague/Assateague, Virginia are both just a short one hour
drive away.

Quilt groups and other crafters are always welcome to come for a stay at "Pieceful" Cottage. We provide irons, ironing boards, a cutting board and table,
fold-up work tables, chairs, electric cords and a workroom large enough for 6 quilters or crafters.   The owner is a quilter and will help with information on local quilt shops.

So bring your boat, kayaks, bikes, and fishing poles and enjoy a relaxing week at "Pieceful" Cottage!

 Just wanted to write you a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed our time at your cottage on Deal Island.  Everything was so easy to set up for our sewing marathons.  We made great progress on a quilt top that we are making for our annual fundraiser, we all made snip and scrap pinholders and enjoyed working on our own projects.  Thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy this time quilting and being with good friends.  It was delightful.     Thank you again

I think I can speak for all four of us when I say that we had a great time in a wonderful location that was perfectly appointed.  Our retreat was an unqualified success - from the hours of uninterrupted sewing to the fabulous sunsets and the serenity of the birds.  Thank you for making your cottage available for groups like ours to rent.  During our drive north, there was much discussion about another retreat, so I anticipate contacting you in the future to set another date.

Just wanted to thank you again for the rental.  Attached are a couple of paintings I did while there.  One was of a boat named Miss Joni which was moored right across from Arby’s while the other was done at Windor’s Marina by the bridge.  I wish I would have had a chance to paint more but we were busy  seeing the sights…Smith and Tangier etc.,etc., Made it to both Boone’s and The Red Roost…Excellent.  Had our final meal at The Waterman’s in Chrisfield. I ended up making crab dip from the crabs you caught off the dock and it made for a great afternoon snack w/ crackers and beer.   Sunsets were awesome as well.

Summer Season:

Mid-May through mid-September

$1250/week

Off Season:

$900/week

Weekend rates: available only in off-season (higher rate for Holiday weekends)

$175-200/night with a two night minimum

• Rental week starts Saturday 4:00 pm and ends Saturday at 10:00 AM
• A $300.00 Security Deposit is required
• Maryland State Tax of 6% will be added to all rentals
• Use of our linens $50.00
• Pets - Well-behaved dogs, with our approval and a $50.00 cleaning fee.
