traveler reviews for this daytona beach condo rental

Needs updating

Anne (Levering, Michigan, USA)
Review submitted: May 5, 2012   Date of arrival: March 1, 2012

We stayed 5 weeks. Let me begin by saying the location was the best! The condo had a wonderful view of the ocean! It was walking distance to many good restaurants and a Publix. You really didn't need a car. The beach was perfect and very clean. The condo staff very helpful and so nice! However, now the bad. The condo is very, very outdated! Furniture ripped, but adequate as pets are allowed. The patio doors were NOT cleaned: filthy. The sliding doors would LITERALLY barely open, we used WD-40 and could sorta get in and out. The patio furniture was cheap which is ok, but dirty!!! They had a ripped old dirty cushion on one chair We were told the salt air made the furniture stained and dirty. This is a cheap fix and should have been replaced with each rentor if that's the case. The TV was no bigger than a computer screen. The kitchen ok, but microwave is OLD and didn't even have a turntable in it. (Ok, that's being picky, but again, things are out-dated)The coffee pot had a crack in it and the first day we spilled coffee while pouring. Nice closet space in BR, but linens are so old. Sheets are from the 1980's and felt like it. Towels are old-old, thin and tacky. Bed mattress is old and lumpy. Bathroom has little to no counter space and we even installed a towel ring which was left for us. Shower pressure was fantastic! We were told we could smoke on the balcony, but upon arrival were told no smoking allowed even on the balcony. The only place you can smoke is a small 15' area by the pool. Inconvenient, but not impossible. The biggest concern is the air-conditioning which would go off about 9 times a day. It would pop at the circuit breaker. We were told this was normal! This is not normal, and should be addressed as there is obvious electrical problems that could lead to safety issues. This condo could be great if the ammenties were better. We talked to realtors working out of the building and other owners and the going price is better and includes an underground parking space. We think this place is over-priced for what you get. All said and done...I'd probably rent again as they accept pets:IF they made upgrades and addressed the air-conditioning. I will say the listing agent was wonderful. She quickly answered every question I had and the unit was ready on time for us.

Recommended for: age 55+, pet-friendly, tourists without a car

Owners response: This condo has been depicted as outdated but it is really a well maintained unit. No towel ring was left for the renters. The maintenance man forgot to put it in and a phone call to me or him would have corrected this. The AC works. The patio door works. Everything works.

Awesome vacation

Ozarkian (Ozark, Missouri, USA)
Review submitted: August 2, 2010   Date of arrival: July 16, 2010

We had a great vacation! I was worried about renting something I had not seen in person, but this place was just as pictured on internet. Condo was clean, everything we needed was there: dishes, utensils, cooking pans, bath towels, etc. It was very important to me to be right on the beach - it was. We loved going on walks on the beach in the evening. This part of the beach is not so crowded - very nice quiet area. I have a 18 yr old son and 12 yr old son - they loved the waves. Great area - you could surf, boogie board or just play in the waves closer to shore. It was beautiful. We spent 9 days here. Drove to Orlando two days (it is only an 1 and 1/2 hours away). We went to Disney Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios Islands of Adventure 2 different days. Everything you need is close by to condo - grocery store (Publix), Walgreens, restaurants, Mini-golf, lots of beach stores/souvenier shops, etc. We drove to Ponce De Leon lighthouse (about 1/2 hour away) which was really cool - lots of history and you could go up into the lighthouse. We ate at Harber Inlet restaurant fairly close to lighthouse - excellent food - you eat out on deck overlooking marina inlet. Also, we drove to Ocala to visit Don Garlit's drag racing museum (about 2 hours away) - it was excellent! We had a great vacation. We will definitely stay here again! Only complaint we have about condo is that they need curtains over bedroom windows. They have blinds but light comes in at night from night life and in morning. When you're on vacation, you want to sleep in.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing, romantic getaway
