activities and attractions in Mount Rainier Washington

There is plenty to do to fill your time during your stay and here are some of our favorites:

The Mt Rainier National Park attracts visitors year round for a variety of activities including snowshoeing, sledding, and cross-country skiing in the Winter and hiking, sight-seeing, and mountain climbing in the Summer. All four seasons offer extraordinary photography opportunities with or without the 14,000+ mountain as the backdrop.

NW Trek is another area favorite and is located about 30 minutes from Ashford. NW Trek is a 723-acre wildlife park that is home to more than 200 North American animals. Take the signature tram tour through the free-roaming area and spot moose, swan, bison, mountain goat, caribou, and more as they wander through forests, wetlands and meadows. Then stroll through the walking area to see the grizzlies, cats, and other forest and wetland critters. Considered by many to be the Pacific Northwest's finest zoo.

Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad is an authentic steam locomotive experience not to be missed! The train will take you on an excursion through the lush forest and river valleys of the Mt. Rainier area. MRSR offers a variety of open window and enclosed coaches pulled by vintage steam locomotives. A great Mount Rainier activity for all ages and levels of mobility

Don't forget to save some time in the evenings for roasting marshmallows and for taking a dip in the hot tub!

Great Cabins for Couples Weekend

jbxter81 (Eugene, OR)
Review submitted: August 30, 2010   Date of arrival: August 6, 2010

We went to the cabin this August with another couple to spend some time hiking in the National Park and to do some fishing on a lake nearby (it was Mineral Lake, and we caught some great Rainbow trout which I'm told are stocked at the lake each year).

Anyways the cabins were great, definitely had everything we needed for the weekend. Grill was clean and fired up just fine and the hot tub worked great, too. (Those were the two most important things for us)

Would definitely recommend for a bunch of different people but for us this was perfect; price was right to split with another couple and they took care of everything. TWo thumbs up.

Great cabins, wish we could have stayed longer

Just got home from the cabins a few days back. They were everything we wanted from a rental. We managed to hike a couple days in the national Park, soak in the hot tub, and best of all just relax for a few days. They took care of all the details like kitchen utensils (spices, oils, etc., too) and made it easy to just show up and enjoy ourselves for a few days. Would highly recommend, and we're considering coming back during the winter for Thanksgiving or Xmas break with our extended family to the larger cabin.
