Siesta Key = Heaven

Siesta Key is our family's favorite vacation destination for beach time.

We found this particular condo online at a great rate! I would have given the rating five stars except for the fact that the day we arrived some workers were power-washing the walkway areas. The machine sat right in front of our door. I've got video to prove it, it was so amazingly loud we couldn't hear ourselves think. After driving for 20 hours this was not the greeting we had been hoping for. We just wanted to rest and chill out, but this went on for nearly an hour. Then the same the next day. It would have been nice if we had been warned ahead of time that this would be going on. We tried many times to find the manager to ask when it would end but she was never in the office. It was always closed. Thankfully, it didn't go on the whole time we were there. We stayed for seven nights.
Also, the individual who I booked the condo with explained to me that the beach was within walking distance, by about .24 miles. That is not the case. Public beach access is about half to 3/4ths of a mile. Too far to walk carrying beach chairs, beach umbrella, bags, cooler, and a three year old. A short drive, no problem.

We really enjoyed the food at Captain Curts Oyster Bar on Stickney Point Road. Try their fried shrimp. Great seafood, very reasonably priced. We also ate at Phillipi Creek Oyster Bar and Restaurant on Tamiami Trail. We eat here every time we come to Siesta Key making it an official tradition. A-MAZING seafood. Higher priced. Always packed so expect a wait, but so worth it! You can visit the gift shop next door to help pass the time. :) We stopped and had Pina Coloda's at The Daiquiri Deck near Siesta Key village. It was two for one daiquiri's making up their happy hour...VERY GOOD. The food, typical bland fare. The drinks are what you're there for. And finally, sorry for this, but I cannot for the life of me remember the restaurant in Siesta Key Village that boasts the Mexican food. The atmosphere, while inviting from the outside looking in, was not. Food was so so.

But one must visit The Sandbar restaurant on Anna Marie Island, a 40 min drive north. Trust me. Trust. Me.

Other than that, the condo was great, very clean, very spacious and stocked with the basics! Loved having a washer and dryer! The pool was awesome! And the beach, well, that speaks for itself. We would stay here again. Knowing what to expect now.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway

Owners response: I would like to clarify this particular renters comment on the 3/4 to approx. 1 mile to the Siesta Key Public Beach. That entrance is to the right of the complex and he is correct approx. 1 mile. The beach access we use and all our other renters use is to the left of the condo complex at Stickney Point Rd. It's less than .4 of a mile. We walk it all time with our children and so do our renters. It's also a 30 second ride in the car. They do have free parking there also. A great feature is there is a shopping complex right across the street from the beach so you can get a cold drink, cocktail, coffee, ice cream, lunch, plus crescent market is there too! It's a fantastic location!
