bedrooms: 2 king beds, 2 queen beds, 3 baths) for family and friends, decks to relax and enjoy
the views from. The gas fireplace in the main room is a great place
to gather to discuss plans for the day.

or weekend.

Great house with beautiful views

We stayed here for a long weekend. We had a great time hiking at Deep Creek in Bryson City and went white water rafting at the NOC. We traveled with 2 kids (10 and 12) and a dog. The house was very comfy and well-cared for. The owners were accomodating and the house was tastefully decorated and well-stocked. Views from the back deck were beautiful! Can't wait to visit again! :-)

Great Place to Get Away From It All

This is a great place to get away from it all. Beautiful cabin with a nice view of the lake. There is plenty of room for all with two decks, the lower having a nice HOT TUB! There are two outdoor fireplaces with seating so you can sit and read or chat amongst yourselves. The indoor area is nice as well with a kitchen that will meet all your needs while away from home. We would return again! The road leading to the cabin is a bit steep so be prepared if you are a flat lander. The cell signal was non existent however there is very good wifi and the owner provides free long distance calling. But the whole point is getting away!!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

A bit of heaven here on earth

Beautiful, tranquil, serene, quiet, peaceful and restful are the words we would use to describe Elma Lou's Lodge. We drove up from Atlanta in June 2011 and it was 91 degrees when we stopped in Franklin to pick up some groceries. An hour later, we arrived at Elma Lou's and it was 76 degrees with a light breeze. The deck has a gorgeous view of Lake Nantahala through the trees -- a much better view of the lake than two neighboring cabins which we visited. The sounds of birds singing and late afternoon showers hitting the treetops provided a wonderful serenade. It's also a good location from which to start trips to the lake or whitewater rafting and easy to get to other attractions. The neighborhood is off Wayah Road about halfway between Old Murphy Road (near Hwy 64) and Hwy 19 (at the Nantahala National Forest Whitewater Rafting Launch Site). The home is comfortable and clean and just what you need as a private refuge or a home base for daily activities. The only addition we would make is a porch swing and hammock on the lower deck. We recommend it highly and, since it's only a 2.5 hour drive from Atlanta, we will be visiting Elma Lou's again!
