Built in 1923, this is a charming two story home located in a
historical neighborhood of West Palm Beach. Houses here date from
the early part of the 20th century and stand on streets lined with
palms, frangipani, and banyan trees. Because of their Mediterranean
revival architecture and age, these houses are part of Florida’s heritage
and are protected by the city’s preservation efforts.
The rooms of the house are furnished with antiques, windows are hung
with silk and velvet drapes, and floors are scattered with oriental
rugs. Ceiling fans rotate on the high ceilings and French glass
doors increase the sense of space and comfort. The warm earthen hues
of the original hardwood floors in the living room and bedrooms and
the rustic Mexican tile in the dining rooms are enhanced by the
amber light filtered through bamboo shades.
Within the private, fenced-in backyard, a lush garden of palms,
bananas, and tropical plants surrounds the heated, blue tiled pool.
Amenities such as beach towels, pool toys, barbecue grill and patio
furniture are provided.
Downstairs the entertainment space extends comfortably through the
living room to the den to the dining room and then into the kitchen
and breakfast room. The formal dining room seats six to eight on
fin de siecle chairs around an old trestle table. Enjoy
leisurely mornings in the cheerful, informal breakfast room with a
view of the garden and pool.
Upstairs you will find two spacious bedrooms, both with Queen beds,
one with television and DVD player. Additional sleeping
arrangements include the Queen size sleeper sofa in the living room
and futons for smaller guests. Two full bathrooms – one upstairs
and one downstairs – have tubs and showers. And a laundry room with
wash and dryer is conveniently located upstairs next to the master
bedroom.
