Whoa! I just read the previous review from 'Laura'. I have stayed here numerous times over the years and NEVER experienced what she described. In fact, I was so impressed with my first experience in 2009 that I am what's called "a repeat customer"...and a satisfied one at that!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Just a quick note to thank you for the use of Summer Haven on Peaks Island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially the beautiful sunsets from the porch and our backshore strolls. We found your property clean and well maintained and appreciated you dropping by to see how things were going and to offer your suggestions on making the most of our island stay.

House was filthy

Emailing back and forth was very pleasant. The gentleman was very friendly and prompt. However, when we got to the house, it was totally dirty. I mean, food on the table, wash cloth in the shower along with used soap and shampoo, the floors where filthy, the pillows were ancient and yellowed and spotted, the sheets were all dusty, you name it. One bed was made and I can only imagine someone else had slept in it. It was if someone had just left the house. We had to go out and get cleaning supplies and clean the whole thing and wash the sheets before we did anything. The trash and the recycling was piled up outside. Really disappointing. Our guests that week brought their own pillows - a MUST. Really, the pillows are just gross. There are blankets, but we put them away as they were really nasty too. I emailed the man and he said that the cleaning lady had the schedule wrong - ok, but there were cobwebs with bugs in them that were between the furniture - they'd been there awhile. It was disgusting, sorry to say. All that said, once it was clean the house was fine. Good location, quiet, nice neighbors. Just be prepared to clean the whole place - especially the toilet (gross!!!) - and not to be offered any compensation. We weren't.
