Casa Tranquila in San Miguel de Allende

This house is airy, filled with light and tasteful grace. Designed by a local architect in Mexican Modern to create a living space with lots of light, tranquility and inspiration for the writer/owner, it's the perfect place to be on retreat while enjoying a busy vacation of art viewing, dancing, music, lectures, live theater, shopping for amazing crafts,  dining exquisitely, spending a few hours soaking in a hot spring, hiking, meeting cool people.

Casa Traquila is on the edge of Colonia Azteca, around the corner and one house away from the Centro Historico. You will be two blocks from the fruit and flower, and craft markets. And a level 7-minute walk to the Jardin at the very heart of this Mexican paradise named after the archangel San Miguel. 

The house's master bedroom, office with eight feet of desk and many books, living, dining, and kitchen loftlike area are all on the second floor to take advantage of the view through a wall of windows of a verdant green hillside and the wall of an ancient dam. Impossible-seeming to have such a view so close to town and invisible from the street. But there it is as you dine on the upstair terrace, lounge in the queen-sized comfy bed or sit on a love seat daydreaming, in conversation, or reading a book.

On the ground floor is a cozy bedroom with a desk and glass doors opening onto a gorgeous garden filled with succulents, fruit trees and flowers. An outdoor livingroom only two walls is more part of the garden than "off of" the garden.

Laundry is done across the expansive entry way in the laundry room. And if you dive to San Miguel you may park your car in the garage. 

The kitchen is fully equipped, the beds and

pillows are comfy, and the are high thread count cotton.

Washer and Dryer

There is maid service twice a week and a gardener twice a week who can help you with anything that needs doing. 

There is a lively arts scene with literary readings, gallery openings,
museums, lectures, plays, concerts, and music. Hot springs are nearby.

There is great hiking, mountain biking, golf, horseback riding, fantastic shopping, language schools, salsa dancing, mariachis, and a nightlife that doesn't quit unitl near dawn. And when you need to recover you may do so with a massage and facial at a local spa. Or perhaps you'd prefer to take a cooking class. 

You can also take day trips to the university, silver-mining town, Guanajuato; or the historic colonial town of Queretero; as well as to the mecca of ceramics and birthplace of the revolution, Delores Hidalgo.
