Featured in the New York Times Travel section!
The location: The flat is conveniently located just across the
street from the Tower of London and next to the beautiful and
historic Trinity Square Gardens. Just a minute's walk from the Tower
Hill tube stop, and approximately three minutes from the Tower
Gateway DLR, you'll find this flat the ideal London base from which
to explore London!
Sleeping Arrangements: This flat is perfect for a couple or small
family. There is a bed (British Double, which is approximately the
same size as an American Queen) in the upstairs bedroom (see
photo). There is also a very large and comfy sofa which is six
foot two inches between the armrests and which makes up nicely into
a twin bed if desired. In addition there is a US Queen-size "Aero-
Mattress" available for guests' use. (However, when I say that the
maximum is 5 persons, that really means 2 parents and 3 children, as
the flat is really too small for 5 adults.)
Email me if you would like to see more photos.

are free phone calls from the flat to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand
and most of Europe, so you can call your family and friends at home,

activities and attractions in London England
Local Attractions: Many points of historic interest, including the
Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the Roman Wall(s). Just across the
street, in addition to the Tower of London, is All Hallows by the
Tower, a 1,500 year old church that holds historic interest for
Americans as well as Brits as it was the church in which William
Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, was baptized as an infant, and in
which John Quincy Adams, the 6th President of the US and son of the
2nd President, was married in 1797. Tours of the church, which are
offered free of charge, reveal among other things a 2,000 year old
Roman road, part of the ancient Roman city of Londinium, that ran
underneath the present site of the church.
The flat is located in 'The City' or financial district, so the area
is considered very safe, even for walking around late at night. Due to
the flat's proximity to the tube station (and being within Zone One
and on the Circle and District Lines), you can hop on and quickly be
near any major attraction in central London: Buckingham Palace,
Churchill's War Rooms, Whitehall, Parliament, Big Ben, Kensington
Palace, etc.
There are many pubs and restaurants within a one or two minute walk.
The Hung, Drawn and Quartered Pub is just across Great Tower Street
next to All Hallows (church). If that one doesn't appeal, there are
three other British pubs, a French restaurant (Chez Gerard), a
Spanish restaurant, an Asian noodle place (Wagamama) a Pizza Express
restaurant, a Subway sandwich shop and a couple of mom-and-pop cafes, all
within a lazy 1-2 minute walk. If you're willing to walk a bit
further, you will find a seemingly endless supply of restaurants. One
not to miss is Dickens Inn (a former hanging ground for pirates) at St
Katherine's Docks! The docks also host a small marina and many quaint
cafes, shops and restaurants of all price ranges. If you choose to walk
east about 10-15 minutes, you'll find yourself in London's East End,
and perhaps at Petticoat Lane which is famous for its excellent Indian
and Bengali food!
I highly recommend the Jack the Ripper Walking Tour of the East End,
held at night and starting from the Tower Hill tube, just about a
minute (if that) from the flat. Also nearby (meaning under 15 minute
walk) is St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, The City (financial
district), St Katherine's Dock, Shad Thames (riverwalk area with
more restaurants, pubs and shops), Sir Francis Drake's ship the Golden
Hinde, the HMS Belfast, London Bridge, Southwark Cathedral (at the
south end of London Bridge), Millenium Bridge, Tate Modern Museum, the
Globe Theatre, etc
.
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is a pleasant walk across Tower Bridge
near Vinopolis, a wine museum with a lovely restaurant with wine
tasting. (The theatre and restaurant are ideal for a unique dinner and
show experience as part of a memorable and romantic weekend.)
The pictures below are: 1) the view of the Tower of
London, Tower Bridge & the Thames River from my building's roof, 2) my building viewed from Trinity Square Gardens, 3) the living room/lounge on my downstairs floor, 4) the kitchen, also on the downstairs floor of the flat (the downstairs is "open plan", meaning the kitchen and living room are part of the same space on the ground floor of my flat - just at opposite ends of the space), 5) the upstairs sleeping and sitting area, 6) the view from the upstairs bed across the sitting area to the bathroom, 7) the entrance to the bathroom, and 8) looking down the spiral staircase from the upstairs area to downstairs.
