Alta Vista is located in the Tahoe-Donner resort, part of the Town of Truckee, near Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe, a 40-minute drive from Reno Airport, and 3 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area, in a uniquely private and quiet setting.

The Alta Vista chalet is ideal for all-season vacationing. At 7300 ft. elevation, you are above the Tahoe-Donner downhill ski area and close to the famous Tahoe-Donner cross-country ski facility. A 20-30 minute drive will take you to the world-class Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, and Sugar Bowel downhill ski resorts, or to Royal Gorge cross country area.

Or put on your hiking boots, cross country skis or snow shoes in the garage of Alta Vista and discover miles and miles of High Sierra trails.

During the summer season, there is access to the Tahoe-Donner golf course, pools and tennis centers, and to beautiful Donner Lake with its water sporting facilities. There are numerous spectacular hiking and biking trails and rock climbing possibilities at your doorstep -- leave your car in the garage of "Alta Vista" and walk 5 minutes to  the the trail head of the Donner Ridge trail system (great for mountain biking, too!). There is even a raft that can be borrowed, on
special request, for Truckee River rafting activities.

Warm up in the sauna or jacuzzi tub (both with spectacular mountain vistas!) after a day of outdoor activities, or enjoy the outdoors hot tub built into the lower level view deck (not guaranteed to be available during December - April, due to weather conditions).

The panoramic vistas of the chalet are maximized from every room and large wrap-around decks on the two upper levels. You simply feel at the top of the world. A second master bedroom/bath with a jacuzzi-tub is  available on the lower level.

Large view windows, comfortable furniture, a (gas) fireplace, and decor will contribute to making your stay pleasant and memorable. The kitchen is large and well equipped with modern appliances. A gas-fired grill is available on the upper deck. We even have a remotely controllable heating system, so the home will be cozy upon your arrival!
