vacation rental description
Granite Lake is known throughout its region for its incredible
beauty and crystal clear waters. The lake ranks consistently as
one of the top two or three in the state in its water purity which
is rated by the State each year. It is ideal for swimming and
boating and offers excellent fishing of nearly all varieties
of native fish including bass and trout.
Granite Lake is conveniently located just 10 minutes from
Keene, NH, which is quite possibly the most attractive small
city in New England, offering fine restaurants, antique shops,
excellent shopping, numerous cultural attractions and much more.
This rustic knotty pine cottage is situated directly on the
lake near the center of the village of Munsonville, which is
part of the small town of Nelson, NH. The front of the cottage,
composed entirely of paned windows, is only a yard or two from
the water. There is a sandy bottom in the lake in front of the
cottage which makes it great for the kids (and adults too!).
There is a dock for sunning or tying up your boat which can be
launched only a few dozen yards up the road where there is a
paved public launching area. If you don’t have a boat, in the
cottage garage, you’ll find an assortment of small water craft
including a canoe, a kayak and a rowboat.
The cottage itself consists of a large great room, a master
bedroom with two standard double beds, and a small bedroom
with one double bed. There is a half bath with shower, and a
galley style kitchen.
There is also a screen porch facing the lake, a great place
to sip your morning coffee. Better yet, go down and sit on
the dock and watch for loons – they often pass right in front
of the cottage.
After a quick swim, run or bike ride around the lake (its
almost a perfect 5K), jump in the canoe and row out to
the island which is about a mile across the lake, a
favorite local picnic spot! In the afternoon, how about a
drive over to nearby Mount Monadnock, the most climbed
mountain in America. On the way home, stop by the Peterboro
Basket Company factory outlet in neighboring Peterboro.
After dinner, end the day by attending a concert at the
Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music which is just a five
minute drive from the cottage in Sullivan, NH -- tickets,
just $10!
