The Chautauqua is the ultimate beach experience

Best Ocean Views - Best Beach - Beach Location - Best House (Sleeps 6-22)

Direct Ocean Front. Rebuilt in 2005 from the studs up to maintain the integrity of the original
1926 bungalow with painstaking attention to detail. Original Heart of Pine floors, Bead Board,
Claw foot tub. But all NEW materials. New Kitchen,New Baths, New Drywall, New Plumbing, New
Electric, New Windows, New Air Conditioning. Everything NEW but done "In Period". There is not a
more charming rental available. It's like walking into your own "Pottery Barn".

Designed to accommodate small to large groups, it is can be rented together for a total of 22 guests or separately. The Main House sleeping 15. The First Floor 6-7. It was made for multiple families and ages. People coming together to share the experience and the expense. That is what beach homes were originally made for and what The Chautauqua is here to recreate. Memories. A place
away from their daily grind, to enjoy each other ... The Sun ... and The Surf. I truly believe there is not a better house for it.

THE HOUSE - THE CHAUTAUQUA

This is the classic 1926 Craftsman bungalow the current-day Architects & Designers are
trying to reproduce. It starts with the 24 foot Great Room which acts as the main focal point of
the house from which the Kitchen and the Bedrooms flow. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it
and knew I had to restore it to its former glory. I think we surpass it. We kept the original 1926
quarried Coquina fireplace. REAL Coquina. Not what they make houses of now. Just like the Fort in
Old St Augustine! (We are still looking for someone who knows how to restore it, however, so the
Fireplace is not functional. Something to look forward to). The Bead board wainscoted is also from
the original house, carefully removed and refinished. The floors are Heart of Pine. Sanded back to
their original glory. They dont even grow wood like that anymore. Even the interior doors, all 8
foot, were patterned after the originals. As were the windows. And loads of molding. All
specially milled to match the period.

Then we started adding the NEW touches. A state of the art Gourmet Kitchen. Full wood Cherry,
Mission cabinets with tumbled marble backsplash and gorgeous sea scape metallic tile accents. The
most unusual Granite I had ever seen. It is wonderful. Looks like sand. Black Glass Jennaire Double
Ovens and matching Refrigerator. Microwave. Dishwasher. Full array of cooking tools, dishes, pots
and pans. Stainless Farm Sink. Honed Chisel edged Stone floors. Large Laundry room with ironing
facilities.

There's a huge Dining Table plus counter stool seating. Two outdoor Dining Tables and one on
the Balcony. Plenty of seating for all. Highchair if needed.

Central TV area with Movie Channels, DVD Player, IPOD Sterio & Wireless Internet. Fax machine if
needed. TVs in every bedroom. DVD players in all but 1.

PIANO. You have to have a Piano at a beach house. It was my Grandmothers. There are Guitars and a
xylophone too. Just imagine the hours of fun.

Game Tables. I am big on games so there are lots of Games. And Books.

LOFT with Pool Table - Wet Bar - Balcony - Sleeping Berths. As good as the main level is, most would agree that the LOFT is the show place of it all. Running the entire length of the house. With
Brazilian Cherry floors and wainscot, it was designed to resemble a ship's cabin.

The VIEW IS UNSURPASSED from the 3rd story covered porch recessed into the house for sun and wind
protection. Enjoy the view from the teak table and chairs. Explore the craters on the moon
(telescope provided). Or simply relax in the slingback chairs and take a nap in the ocean breeze.

There is a second built-in Entertainment Center with comfortable leather recliner.

Full size POOL TABLE.

WET BAR with antique corner sink, frig and extra microwave for late night popcorn.

A classic bath. White Subway tile with mosaic floor and glass inlay. The sink looks like
furniture. Granite top. White Vessel Sink with recessed lighted mirror.

SLEEPING BERTHS. Whereas the adults will enjoy the loft, it was really made for the children and
it's the SLEEPING BERTHS they will be fighting over. There are 4 in all. Compartments built into
the walls, like a ship. Complete with individual reading lights, TVs with DVD Players and under bed Storage Drawers for all their "stuff". 3 singles and 1 double that serves double duty as a play area. Check out the photos.

FRONT PORCH. Running the entire width of the house. Some consider it their favorite spot. There is LOTS of seating - All Teak. Rockers, Adirondacks, benches, 2 sets of table and chairs.

FRONT YARD. Nice grassy front yard with large patio for hop scotch. Gas Grill. Outdoor Shower.
Hammock under the Palm.

FIRST FLOOR. The Chautauqua is actually a duplex. The first floor is totally self contained with
its own Garage, Laundry, Oceanside Decks & Outdoor shower. It has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. Rent it
separately or together with the Main house.

The look is totally different. All STONE floors. Even the walls on the Porch are stone.

There is a large Greatroom. Open to the Kitchen and Dining with a Flat Screen Plasma TV on the wall.

The Kitchen is actually larger than the main house. All Stainless appliances with a long Glass
Block under cabinet window. Great light! Fully equipped.

The bath is classic white subway tile with Pedestal sink and blue glass accents. Jetted Soaking
Tub.

There is a covered recessed porch that runs the length of the house. Great for soaking in the sound
of the surf. It has a stone retaining wall and is separated into two parts. Outdoor living off the
Greatroom with table and chairs also accessed from the Master Bedroom. Outdoor cooking off the
Kitchen with granite topped charcoal grill and antique kitchen sink. Outdoor shower. Also stone.

FIRST Floor BEDROOMS:

The Master is Ocean side with Queen bed and sliders out to a Covered Porch.
The Second Bedroom has a King size bed with a Rollout Single.
The Greatroom has an Ottoman that amazingly converts to a single. It is an amazing thing to watch.
Both bedrooms with TVs and DVD players.

MAIN House BEDROOMS:

There are 2 OCEAN FRONT MASTERS with sliders out to the covered Ocenside Porch. Both with full
Stone Bathrooms. The first with West Indies style canopy bed features a Coral Stone Bath. Off-
white shell stone floors and walls with black stone accents. It includes an antique Clawfoot Tub
complete with new Nickel fixtures and hand shower. Plus a Rain Shower with body spray. Separate
dressing vanities with granite tops and gorgeous Kohler farm sink faucets. Nickel light fixtures and private water closet.

The other Ocean front Master with Cherry Sleigh Bed and matching Armoire features a bath of taupe
colored stone with inset blue glass. A Jetted Soakin Tub/Shower. White Cottage Vanity with matching storage cabinet. Granite tops and Stone Vessel Bowl sink.

The 3rd Bedroom can function as a 3rd Master with Day Bed or a children's room. The walls are Bead Board with the bath done in an old fashion mosaic stone rug pattern and subway "stone" shower and wainscot. There is a unique round white vanity with stainless accents, matching mirror and free standing storage cabinet. Room for loads of Towels and everyone's tooth brush no matter the number.

Bedroom 4 is also Bead Board wainscot with a Queen bed and a rollout Single Trundle. It uses the
Powder room and the Loft Bath.

The Loft has 3 single berths and the one double berth and the Full Bath done in classic black and
white. See the bed summary below.

OUR GOAL.

I have tried to design The Chautauqua to be the ULTIMATE beach experience. A place where friends &
family could come together & enjoy each other. Recharge their batteries. I want to make it so
wonderful you will come back year after year. Come to consider it your" home at the beach. Please help me make it all it can be. I am open to all suggestions.

Feel free to call any time. I am always here.

Thank you for considering The Chautauqua,

What to do right around THE CHAUTAUQUA on The Island?

THE BEACH

How is the Beach? That seems the first question you should ask. Well, The Chautauqua just happens to have the BEST BEACH in the area, in my opinion and most of the locals. Since the beaches vary so
widely, I will try to point out the main differences to make sure you ask the right questions before you book your vacation.

First is the SAND. The Chautauquas sand is like powder. Not coarse ground up shells like Vilano.
It is great for making drip castles, my specialty, and building forts. We are thinking of starting a Sand Castle scrap book at The Chautauqua and would love to see your entry added!

Second, at The Chautauqua the ocean is right AT YOUR DOOR STEP. There is no long raised boardwalk
with a 5 minute walk across the dunes to navigate - with the cooler and the chairs and the beach
toys and floats and children and blankets (you get the idea) - before you ever get to the water. At The Chautauqua the ocean is right there! 10 steps away.

Third, there are NO CARS. This is a major distinction. We have lots of Drive Beaches in St.
Augustine. Imagine trying to play paddle ball with cars continually passing by and having to be on
constant baby alert.

Fourth, the beach is WIDE. As you can see from the photos, The Chautauqua has a very deep, level
beach. And very private - no high rise condos. Great for the young ones when the sloughs form at
low tide. More places to explore and play. Fish to trap. Some area beaches are very narrow and
steep. Even rocks in the surf. The difference is amazing and affects the waves too.

SURFING

How are the waves you are asking? Well, it is not the West Coast but it is not the Gulf either. So
they are not too high and not too low, I would call it "just right". The locals consider The
Chautauqua the best surfing spot around. There is a Surf shop at the end of the street. They have a
live webcam at our house so the locals can stay in touch with the surf. Google for Pit Surf Shop to
see it. Rent board or take lessons from them but you can have loads of fun with the boogie boards &
floats provided at The Chautauqua no charge. The surf shop rent Bikes too but I think we still have
one or 2 at the house.

RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE

What can I walk to? Many beaches are right on A1A with a busy street in your front yard and no
facilities, very isolated. When you are at the beach, you really do not want to have to cook every
meal. And people seem to always be eating. The Chautauqua has this covered. You will be amazed
how many Restaurants are within walking distance. Just 2 doors down on the Ocean is the
Beachcomber. At the end of the street are 4 restaurants. One with live music and a swimming pool
for the children. A short few block drive in the car gives an almost endless list. There is the
Oasis, a famous Sports Bar. The Conch House, with live music outside and boat rentals on the
Intracoastal. Cafe 11 for has gourmet coffee to go and live music (sometimes w/cover charge). Too
many to list and all wonderful. There is no need to drive to St Augustine for dinner but you should
do it one night. Taxi service makes it fun and convenient.

THE PIER

You can also walk to the Pier. Just up from Cafe 11. They have a New SPLASH POOL the kids will
love. A huge Beach Volley ball area. FREE CONCERTS on Wednesday nights in the Summer. It is a
real "happening". Take your chairs and a picnic. Check the dates for the Farmers Market.

ANNESTASIA STATE PARK

Just a few blocks north is a great place to learn Windsurfing. Amazing fun. Plus Fishing and Biking
on the sand. Rentals available.

ISLAND ATTRACTIONS

There are nail salons and health spas within walking distance. Always fun on vacation.

Miniature Golf for the kids.

Tennis at the park.

The charming YMCA with POOL and Workout facilities. If you are not a member, you can join by the
day or the week.

Bowling is available on the Island also.

Fishing right out your front door. Bring your poles. DEEP SEA Fishing charters and INTRACOASTAL
boat rentals also available.

PARASAILING/JET-SKIIING - You would not believe the new kites. You can use them on the water with
the surf board or on the land with the skate boards. But you really have to be good to do that.

ALLIGATOR FARM Actually very well done and fun for all ages

SHOPPING - Publix and Starbucks are just one mile south. What more could you want?

DOWNTOWN ST AUGUSTINE

Here the list is endless. Best to check the web. Horse drawn Carriage rides Haunted House tours - Historic sites like Castillo de San Marco and the Oldest School. Great restaurants and wonderful music. Even an Amphitheatre if book your tickets early enough.

ANTIQUING - St Augustine has some very reasonably price shops. Many clustered together. Great for
browsing.

OUTLET MALLS - Unlimited shopping at the intersection of I-95 & SR 16.

GOLF - There are a few local courses at very reasonable rates or World Golf Village and Ponte
Vedra's TPC only a 30 minute drive

MARINELAND - Old Florida the way it used to be

DISNEYWOLD - A nice day trip just a few hours away

But I think you will find all you need right at The Chautauqua. Come see for yourself.
