vacation rental description

Pine Haven -- A Classic 4 Bedroom, 2 Bath Lake Home

Located on Desirable Black Point, Upper Alton Bay

Pine needles crunching underfoot... The scent of the woods greets you as you approach Pine Haven. Nestled against a fern-covered hillside, this classic lake house is ideal for outside socializing. The patio entrance, set in a shady glen, features a fieldstone fireplace popular with marshmallow roasters and s'amore and campfire fans.

Inside, you'll find a wood-paneled living/dining room running the width of the house. Sunlight streams through sliding glass doors that frame Lake Winnie and Mt. Major, across the bay. Step outside onto a rustic deck pungent with the aroma of pine trees.

Stone steps lead down to a raised beach area perfect for sand play and sunning. Ahead, is a dock accommodating boats as large as 24 feet long. Fishing is great right off the dock. Sunbathers are also drawn to this spacious dock. But lapping waves soon entice them into the lake's spring-fed waters.

After all this exercise, a keen appetite is assured. Pine Haven's well equipped kitchen, complete with microwave, dishwasher and Keurig coffee machine, is set up for easy food preparation. Dine inside at the large wooden table or alfresco on the deck or patio. Lobster purchased at a nearby market is a popular menu choice. Buy it already steamed or cook live crustaceans in one of our stock pots.

Relaxation becomes second nature at Pine Haven. Some are drawn to the ecclectic book collection. Others enjoy our brain-teasing assortment of puzzles and board games. For many, unwinding means sitting on the deck watching  fireflies ignite sparks in the evening sky. At days end, a massage in the Jacuzzi is certain to revive anyone.

Most families are content to decompress right here, but should you wish to explore, the area abounds in intriguing day trips. You are only an hour or so from the N.H. and Southern Maine coasts. The varied attractions of the White Mountains are roughly two hours north.

You'll find fine eating places within easy driving distance. Restaurants, such as Harts Turkey Farm, Johnson's seafood and ice cream, and Shibleys, have attracted repeat customers for years.

Reserve your 2014 Pine Haven vacation today.

traveler reviews for this lake winnipesaukee house rental

Great views, quiet, peaceful area!!!

Review submitted: May 15, 2014   Date of arrival: May 24, 2013

We arrived at the house on a Friday, beautiful property and location across from Mt. Major on Lake Winnipesaukee. House was very clean, in a quiet part of the bay, large dock, great for sunbathing or taking a swim. Half way between towns of Alton and Wolfeboro which offer a variety of small shoppes and quaint New England feel. Positive experience overall!!!

Reliving Lake Memories

Review submitted: April 29, 2014   Date of arrival: September 14, 2013

Recalling fun lake vacations of our childhood, my best friend and I planned a lake getaway in New Hampshire. Pine Haven lived up to its name. We had a great time swimming, sunning on the dock and deck, watching chipmunks scamper on the patio, and building campfires in the outside fireplace.

The house offered all we needed including a Jacuzzi for massaging tired muscles. We enjoyed some of the unusal books in the library nook. One of the board games provided kept us intrigued all one evening.

Several afternoons, we hiked in the conservation area down the street. Studying the engineering efforts of beavers at a pond there was a highlight.

If you're looking for real rest and relaxation in a comfortable home in a beautiful natural setting, this is a great getaway spot.

falsely advertised

Review submitted: September 1, 2012   Date of arrival: July 21, 2012

I rented this property with my stepson for our family vacation. We decided on this one because it was advertised with 5 star ammenities. The only thing about this listing that was accurate was that it was on the lake.We arrived to find a filthy house with cobwebbs on the ceiling dead bugs on the floors and in the window sills and in the so called hot tub. There was no geo thermically cool air no phone no cable no ice maker, all of which were promised in the advertisement. The dock was much smaller than was listed and would not accomodate the boat we rented, also the dock was only usable on one side because of rotted support beams. The 100 foot sandy beach advertised was not located on the property it was about a mile away, this was not disclosed until we arrived.I contacted the rentor and he did nothing to address my concerns. He actually told me he was doing me a favor by renting me this house. It is my opinion this man purposely tries to decieve potential tenants by his false advertising of this property.Vacation rentals, com should definately look into this to protect their members.P.S. The roof in one of the bedrooms leaked so I should be gratefull it only rained 1 night.

Owners response: The home is thoroughly cleaned by professional cleaners prior to guests arrival.
We do our best to ensure that everything meets with the guests needs also.
The dock is 30 feet long and over 14 feet wide, and will accomodate very large boats. The beach referred to by the guest is another one to which the guests have access, in addition to the one at the home. After renting for over 40 years, this is the first complaint we have received of this nature. Most guest are thrilled to have the opportunity to enjoy a fine home on the lake. It is important for guests to visit the home prior to renting if they require additional information. We prefer to work directly with the tenants who rent the property; the person who wrote this complaint is a relative. The bugs claimed to be present were undoubtedly the result of doors being left open as this is in a forest-it is not suburbia. Bugs seek out the light at night.

We prefer to work with the renting guest directly so that any issues can be addressed in a timely manner. The claim of false advertising will be addressed directly to the guest who actually rented the property.
