activities and attractions in Gulf Shores Alabama
The Rookery was designed to be a natural and quiet resort, and it is
located adjacent to the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. Fort
Morgan Marina and Tacky Jack's restaurant are located nearby. There
is a grocery store, beverage store, and restaurant within 1/2 mile.
Three miles to the east, food, and music can be found at the Pines grocery & restaurant. The Beach Club is located in the same vicinity, drop by the Village Market & Grill for lunch, have dessert at the "Coffee & Cone Shoppe" or dine at the Beach Club restaurant overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.
Enjoy our beautiful white sandy beaches. Public beach access is located across the street from the Rookery at the end of Cortez Street on Beach Blvd. Cortez St is 0.10 mile(s) from the Rookery. There is also gravel parking lot and a boardwalk at Morgantown off Pizzaro Ave.
Our unit is in phase II and is located approxiately 150 feet from the big pool. The distance from our front door to the beach is 0.4 mile(s)/10 minute walk, or less than a 2 minute drive. If you
are not into the crowded beaches, and high rise condominiums then you'll love the peaceful tranquility of the area. If you like fishing, Alabama's Gulf Coast offers a wonderful variety of in-shore and off-shore saltwater fishing. Catch blue marlin, yellow fin tuna, amberjack, cobia, red snapper, and more! Dixie Bar is a famous fishing spot down at Fort Morgan, and the marina
is less than a 10 minute drive. Inshore/Nearshore fishing trips available at Gulf Shores Marina.
A golfers paradise. There are several premier golf courses in the area with two located within minutes. Kiva Dunes golf course is 3 miles to the east. Peninsula golf course is a 10 minute drive.
Enjoy family fun at Waterville U.S.A., Track Recreation Center, Pirates Island Adventure golf, ride the Ferris Wheel at the Wharf. Visit the Gulf Shores Zoo, Bon Secour National Wildlife, and
historical Fort Morgan. Dauphin Island Sea Lab, and Fort Gaines are a ferry ride across Mobile Bay. Enjoy the Hangout Music Festival held in May. Also, join us for the National Shrimp Festival held every October. Check out the fall bird banning at Fort Morgan every October. Birding enthusiasts will find no better place than Fort Morgan Peninsula for observing native birds as well as those migrating through the area. Fort Morgan and Dauphin Island are part of the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail, and it is said to be a birder's paradise. Shore birds like herons, pelicans, gulls, egrets,
raptors, swallows, and more are found along the waterfront stops of the trail. Ospreys arrive in late winter, and sea turtles nest here in the summer and hatch in the late summer and early fall. Come join us for the Alabama Coastal Birdfest held each October.,
