A few minutes away from the apartment are the main tourist sites of the Seine, Notre Dame, Centre Pompideau, Les Halles, Palais Royale, the Louvre and many others. The metro/bus line is 30 meters and the RER/metro of Les Halles is two blocks away. The apartment is located in an historic building on the corner of two pedestrian streets, rue du Cygne and rue Pierre Lescot. The entrance is an historic French national landmark. The apartment is on the 1st floor, (2nd floor, American), i.e., two flights up. Furnished mostly with antiques, Louis XV armoir, Louis Phillip fireplace, 18th century French bed, etc. The living and dining room are divided by open floor to ceiling 300 year old hand hewn beams. There is a hardwood floor throughout with modern fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with shower and 3/4 tub. There are two windows opening onto the street and three that open onto the internal courtyard area. Free local and LD phone service, (including N. America) high speed internet with wifi and 100 TV channels are provided.
Upon arrival an English speaking person will meet you and explain how everything operates. Fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, and some provisions are provided. Weekly housekeeping is provided. The apartment has a small washing machine with a drying rack. There is a gas stove and a combination microwave/convection/broiler in the kitchen. The apartment also has an ironing board, iron, and hair dryer. A refrigerator, coffee maker, and all dishes and utensils are in the kitchen. All linens and towels are provided. We live in the adjoining building.
The neighborhood is a pedestrian area and very historic. It is very lively, filled with cafes, restaurants, shops, nightclubs etc. Inexpensive bike rentals are one block away. The movie theaters showing first run American and English films in English are two blocks and four blocks away. Two blocks away is the Les Halles underground shopping mall of 5 separate levels. There are several English and Irish pubs in the neighborhood and the American restaurant, Joe Allen's, is 20 yards distant. The exclusive shopping street St. Honore' is four blocks away.
The first 7 nights, a minimum, are $150 each for 1 or 2 people. Any of the next 21 nights are $135 and after these 4 weeks $120 per night. There is a $30 per night surcharge for a third person. A fourth person is not allowed. This is an all inclusive price. The only addition is for telephone usage. The telephone is metered and according to a formula the cash is left upon departure to cover the cost. There are no deposits required or accepted. Payment can be made by wire, personal check, or by credit card through PayPal.
