Single Family w/ 5 Bedrooms - 1 Bathrooms - Sleeps 8
Built in 1771, this lovely 5 bedroom antique farmhouse has been
charmingly furnished, and has 4 working fireplaces, a sun-filled
breakfast nook, melon-colored sunroom, and original wide-plank
pumpkin pine floors throughout. The Farm sits on 6 tranquil acres
loaded with apple and peach trees, blueberry bushes, elderberries,
and wild herbs (it used to be a working organic farm). It's the
perfect place to get-away to read, write, relax, sip some wine by
the fire, or make a lovely meal in the well-stocked kitchen, maybe
even using some of the Farm's fresh herbs. Use as
your home-away-from-home base for fall foliage, antiquing, ski
(downhill or cross country), or summer in New England trips -- or
come write the Great American Novel here. An entire farmhouse to
yourselves -- and for much less the cost of a comparable B & B room!
The Farm has a nicely stocked kitchen with stove, fridge,
dishwasher, microwave, and eating/cooking supplies/utensils. Charcoal BBQ
grill is available for outdoor cooking too. Linens, bedding, and
towels are all provided. There are 2 Queen beds, 2 single beds, and
1 full. There is no cable or active land line phone, but internet
is accessible with a broadbandcard and most cell phones work
here too. There is a TV/DVD/VCR with a variety of family-friendly
and classic movies available.
There are lots of lovely walks nearby (a nice one is just off the
property), nearby hiking and biking trails, and local
swimming/fishing/boating ponds. Mt. Monodnock, the most
climbed mountain in the U.S., is 20 minutes away, as are several ski
mountains. Windblown, a wonderful cross-country skiing facility, is
also very close and offers all necessary equipment, plus some hearty
soups and casual lunches after you've exhausted yourself on the
trails! The Farm is within easy driving distance to some
great antique stores in nearby Fitzwilliam, Jaffrey, Troy,
Greenville, and Townsend, and there's a nice art community for
theatre, art galleries, art classes (the Sharon Arts Center is
wonderful and has great kids' summer camp art classes too!), and
fine and varied restaurants in nearby Peterborough. Keene is only
30 minutes away and it's about an hour and 15
minutes to downtown Boston. A drive to Brattleboro, VT is also
lovely and only about 45 minutes.
