Vacation Rental Description

The Main House at Foothill Farm truly is one of a kind.  It is a 
9,000+ sq. ft., 16 room house nestled at the bottom of a mountain in 
an estate setting, yet is 1/3 of a mile to Tanglewood and 4 minutes to 
the middle of Lenox.  All the rolling land across the road from the 
main house and the dramatically renovated barn, once part of Foothill 
Farm, is now in a conservation trust. The original 1838 federal farm 
house has been incorporated into the historically sensitive redesign 
of the whole property in the mid-nineties by architect Tim Techler of 
Boston. 
     The cherry kitchen, dining room, library with fireplace, original 
parlor, sun room and guest bedroom with bath are in the fully restored 
older part of the house.  Entering the front door, a loggia connects 
with a powder room and a 2-story foyer, which leads to a music room, 
and a 2-story living room with dramatic sky lighting, a tiled 
fireplace, and built-in bookcases.  Off the living room is a hexagonal 
office with three desks with computers and a fireplace.  Off the foyer 
is a recently built screened-in porch which accommodates two teak 
lounges and a dining table for six. 
      Upstairs is a spectacular master suite including the hexagonal 
bedroom with a fireplace,  and a huge Amdiga conservatory with an 
eight person hot tub, completely tiled by the artist Philip Mayberry. 
The dramatic double sink bathroom with steam shower and tub, is also 
tiled by Mayberry. There is also a ping-pong room!   
     The old part of the house also has a lovely master suite, with 
dressing room and bath.  There are three additional bedrooms and two 
more baths upstairs as well.

Vacation Rental Amenities

The house has a two year old  20' X 40' outdoor pool with an 
incorporated 8' X 8' hot tub. The beautifully terraced and landscaped 
area also includes a changing room.  Sorry, the photo shows it brand 
new, the landscaping half done!  The terrace has a lovely table with 
market umbrella, and ample lounge chairs. 
     The elaborate gardens lead to a trail up to an intermittant 
waterfall, which flows down to a stream running alongside the barn. 
There is also a trampoline for family fun, and a second screened-in 
porch with a hammock.  There both gas and charcoal barbeques on the 
large patio outside the kitchen.

Theatre Festival, Barrington Stage, the Berkshire Opera Company, The 
Clark Museum, The Norman Rockwell Museum, The Mount, Hancock Shaker 
Village, The Berkshire Botanical Garden and on and on.

Vacation Rental Rates

The Main House at Foothill Farm is available July and August, and 
for occasional periods during the rest for the year after August 2006, 
depending on our schedule.  A full month rental for July or August is 
$32,000; the weekly rental in July or August is $9,000.  Call for 
rates and availability during the off season.
