Vacation Rental Description

    If Jonesport is the Gem of Downeast Maine, then this 4000 square 
foot, fully restored Victorian with new addition, is the Gem of 
Jonesport!  This is ocean front living at it's best!  More than 600 
feet of white sandy beach for your own private use at your doorstep,
just minutes from the center of Jonesport, an unspoiled lobstering 
village nestled in the safety of Moosabec Reach.

    Undiscovered by the usual summer crowds and free of traffic and 
tourist trappings, Jonesport is an oasis for a true change-of-pace 
vacation.  The white steepled churches, colorful vessels plying the 
harbor, and piles of lobster traps in front yards create a sense of 
serenity and nastalgia

    Jonesport is a friendly place, where people wave whether they 
know you or not.  You can step back to a more peaceful and unharried 
time, breath in the fresh, salty sea air, enjoy the spectacular 
sunrises, sunsets, and starry night skies from the comfort of your 
private patio, and observe the extreme tide changes in this eastern 
most corner of the country.

    Walk along the rock-bound coast or sandy beaches, or bicycle the 
shore road to the village or beyond, where, at every turn, the 
granite coast and blue waters dotted with spruce-green islands are a 
visual feast.

    Tour the nearby 1,579 acre Nature Conservancy Preserve, and keep 
an eye out for eagles, herons, and harbor seals.  The Wass Island 
preserve is a paradise for naturalists, a pristine, scenic treasure 
for photographers and artists.

    Set amid all of this natural beauty is a delightful village full 
of many simple and beautiful attractions.  You can visit waterside 
lobster markets, a clam hatchery, a boat building shop, or simply 
relax on the white sandy beaches and watch the lobster boats do their 
thing.

    Our favorite past time is hiking north along the rocky shore, 
scouring the stones at low tide for treasures.  You never know what 
you're going to find!  From the mouth of the bay you can sit on the 
point and enjoy breath taking views all the way to Canada!  Be sure 
to pack a picnic and bring the kids along for a shoreline hike they 
will never forget!

    This property also boasts a three acre fresh water pond, where 
countless species of waterfowl and migratory birds come to feet and 
breed.  Every morning we rise with the sun, and with a hot cup of 
coffee in hand, we take our places on the sun-drenched deck in our 
comfy Adirondack chairs.  From there, we watch the coastal fogs 
dissipate, and we listen for the distant sound of the lighthouse 
horn, reminding us that this place is a legendary maritime Maine.

    Come to Jonesport for a week, and you'll want to stay for a 
lifetime!  We guarantee that Jonesport's charm, and this beautiful 
seaside retreat, will leave you with a lasting impression!

Vacation Rental Amenities

    Four bedrooms:  1 king sized bed on first floor with private bath,
                    very comfortable, with large windows;

                    1 queen sized bed on second floor with skylight,
                    and down comforters for those cool evenings;

                    1 queen sized bed on second floor with ocean view,
                    and lots of air flow;

                    2 twin beds on second floor with skylight; the 
                    kids will enjoy the blink of the lighthouse as the
                    beam flashes it's warning to mariners!

                    1 futon on third floor for overflow guests.

Activities and Attractions

     Don't expect to find any water parks or arcades here!  This is a 
true vacation getaway.  Bring books and plenty of sunscreen.  Dining 
in nearby Jonesport Village closes early, so plan your meals 
accordingly, or, take a ferry out of Winter Harbor for a day trip to 
downtown Bar Harbor.  See the sites, enjoy an excellent meal, and 
catch the last ferry back to Winter Harbor at 6:00 p.m.  No traffic 
jams, no long car rides, no fussy children!

  Additional family dining establishments are only 30 minutes away in 
Machias.  The local IGA grocer offers you most of the basic staples.  
A full range of stores and shopping are available back in Ellsworth.  
We advise you to get all of your shopping done on the drive into 
Jonesport.  You won't want to battle the traffic in Ellsworth more 
than once!
