vacation rental description

Interesting places abound nearby.

Dream and evasive Cafe Lola on 83rd between Columbus and Broadway is where Tom Hanks dated Meg Ryan in You got Mail. The pastry is as luscious and decadent as the French decoration. A must visit. Then around the corner you have the best Hazelnut coffee in town. The place is called Drip and do pay attention to the stationary computers and myriad concepts in a coffee shop.

Walking down Columbus Ave you must take advantage of the exquisite Snapper presented at Calle Ocho between 82nd and 83rd Street on Columbus. It was spectacular and is a must treat. The oyster lovers will be pleasantly served on Columbus between 78th-79th Street at Ocean Grill with your own private fire place, find it and for a final enjoyment of privacy, find Cafe Artistes at 1 w. 67th. Of course, you must visit Central Park Boathouse Restaurant which is located a stone throw away in Central Park West and 70th Street. These are the secrets of the Upper West Side. Indulge this and don’t forget that Lincoln Center and the Shakespeare in the Park have free performances all summer long, every summer. Lincoln Center has live music bands outdoors on Lincoln Plaza for free for 4-6 hours each Saturday night during the summer' All from Salsa, Jazz, and Classical to anything that makes you move.

Enjoy the following special events: February- Presidents week, Valentines Day; March-St. Patrick’s Day parade; April-Easter Parade Fifth Avenue; May-NYC bicycle race, Memorial Day weekend; June-start of summer; July 4 celebration; August- U.S. Open tennis; September-Labor day weekend. Columbus Day parade; October-Halloween and NYC Marathon; November-Thanksgiving Day Parade, see parade balloons blown up on 79th street; December-Christmas and New Years

Great location, but noisy apartment

Review submitted: April 21, 2014   Date of arrival: April 10, 2014

My friends and I spent two days and two nights at the UWS apartment. The location could not have been better. Walking distance from all of the places we were in town to visit. And in a wonderful neighborhood close to Central Park. That's the good.

The not so good. The apartment is in the middle of a row of brownstones so there is not very much natural light. And while the kitchen has been beautifully updated the rest of the unit is lagging behind.

The worse part of the stay was the lack of sleep due the noisy neighbors upstairs. While I understand that these are vacation rentals and it was the weekend I was willing to put up with a fair amount of disturbance up until midnight (and I relayed this to the landlord) however our lovely upstairs neighbors walked aka stomped around until 2 a.m, every night/morning even after I had express my concerns. Perhaps at the end of the day it was not their fault? The apartments are not well insulated so you can hear everything.

The next day when we were checking out so were they. And it was a herd of them. Tons of kids and adults. Who was up until 2 am stopping around? I couldn't tell you. The kids looked to young to be up that late, and the adults looked too old...

Anyway an other wise splendid trip was soured by the lack of a peaceful night(s) rest. I have stayed in VRBO before in NYC and have not run into this issue. Perhaps that's due to the fact that other renters were owners. These places seem to be solely for the use as rental units. Therefore why be concerned about noise if you don't live there?

If you're looking for a great location and a good price and don't need to sleep this is the place for you. Other wise I'd say keep looking.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, sight seeing, tourists without a car

Owners response: We are pleased they thought the apartment was in a great location. The noise from the apartment above was a rare occurrence. Other than this complaint, we have had no other complaints about noise in this apartment. The tenants and their children have permanently vacated the apartment. We do not anticipate this happening in the future. The apartment is very quiet since it is located in the rear of the building away from any street noise.

Excellent option

Review submitted: March 6, 2014   Date of arrival: December 28, 2013

We spent a week for new year's eve and I can say that the apt is very comfortable.
The sourrounding are great ! Full of groceries store, bars and very close to transportation.

We were a party of six ( mom, dad, grandparents and children aged 8 & 12) and we fit perfect in the apartment.
Since I got in contact with Anthony, everything was just as described and planned.
Anthony took care of every single detail to make our stay a wonderful experience.
I would really choose this apt again !

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Upper Westside

Review submitted: April 26, 2013   Date of arrival: April 19, 2013

My wife and I stayed in 2A for a week visiting our son. We obtained an authentic NYC experience. There are windows in every room. The apartment is nice place to return home to and wake up in. The subway and busses with one week unlimited Metro card made seeing the entire city from the apartment easy. There is plenty of NYC within walking distance including Central Park. No problems with apartment. Size is perfect for Parents and two children. Pick up fresh bagels and eggs to make in your kitchen for breakfast.
