Valley-View Hideaway is a darling 2 bedroom 1 bath house with a
large deck. It is located in Kentwood in the Pines, a mountain
neighboorhood of Julian and just a mile from the historic town.
This retreat sits on the very edge of the community with only the
mountains behind the house and the view above the trees from the
front of the house. The hideway is just that...hidden in the trees.
The hideway will provide a quiet mountain vacation with lots of
privacy. The wild turkeys, squirrels, birds, coyotes, foxes,
and an occasional mountain lion share the forest with the humans.
Sit quietly and watch the wildlife from the deck.
The master bedroom has a NEW queen size bed with night-stands, dresser, and
closet. The 2nd bedroom has a double bed with a day bed that pulls
out with a trundle (sleeping up to 4 in this room)and a closet.
The kitchen is fully equiped with a refigerator/freezer, full size
stove, microwave, coffee pot, crock pot, and all the appliance to
make your vacation meals easy to prepare. Coffee filters, coffee and
tea, baggies, aluminum foil, dishwashing detergent are also
included. We mean it when we say bring only the food you want to
cook. There is a large table with room to sit 6 people in the
kitchen.
The large deck has a table, chairs, bench and a gas grill (propane
included) for cooking. This is a great place to drink your morning
coffee and watch the sunrise over the trees or sit out after dinner
and enjoy the cool evenings of Julian. The large deck makes the
house seems twice as large.
The living room has two couches, one is a hide-a-way bed, coffee table, end tables with a TV,
DVD and Video player. There are cards with poker chips and board
games to spend quality time with your family or guests. Put
together a puzzle in front of the wood burning stove on a chilly
evening. It's a great place to relax after a day touring the gold
mine and hicking.
The bathroom has a full size tub with a shower and a washer/dryer
are included.
Julian is in the mountains north-east of San Diego. It is a
historic gold mining town and has kept the flavor of the wild-west
by preserving the buildings in the small town. The town caters to
visitors and provides restaurants, and gift shops to meander
through. Julian is known for its apple orchards that were planted
when the gold played out, and apple pie is the number one industry
in this neck-of-the-woods. You can buy it by the slice, at
numberous locations, or take the whole pie back to the Hideaway and
eat-it-all in privacy. There are 2 small grocery stores to provide
all the essentials for home cooking. There is one bank with an ATM
and one gas station. Most cell phones work in most areas of the
mountain community.
The elevation in Julian is 4200 feet. It boasts the changing of the
seasons, and several times in the winter there will be snow. It is
a one and one-half hour drive to the San Diego airport and only 45
minutes (from Hwy. 79) to El Cajon which is a major city.
