vacation rental description
The Blueberry House acquired its name due to the abundance of
blueberry plants around the property that ripen in late July
and early August. You can enjoy the view from the wrap-around deck
and living areas with water on two sides of the camp. A level piece
of property with gradual access to a sandy area makes water entry
easy for children. The sun sets directly off the dock, and can be
viewed from the deck as well. You can enjoy the cool summer evenings
in Maine on the furnished screened-in porch.
Two hundred feet of shorefront and privacy makes this a quiet and
comfortable retreat on Black Island, one of two year-round islands
accessible by causeways on this large, clear lake. Loons and bald
eagles are frequently spotted on the lake, fish jump for dinner at
dawn and sunset.
The Blueberry House is located on Thompson Lake in Oxford, Maine.
Thompson lake is twelve miles long, and is one of the clearest lakes
in the state. With a maximum depth of 121 feet, the bottom can be
seen to a depth of 35 feet. Mount Washington can be seen from parts
of the lake. It is a quiet lake with modest boat traffic. The
shoreline is varied, with long stretches of undeveloped shore,
shallow sandy areas and some steep and rocky.
Don't forget to visit Thompson Lake Marina at the south end of the
lake for ice cream and boat rentals!
Fall is a great time to plan your stay at the Blueberry House. The views are breathtaking whether
you are lounging on the deck or kayaking around the islands!
