Creekside cabins

Review submitted: July 23, 2011   Date of arrival: June 29, 2011

My Brother and I stayed two weeks at the Whisper cabin, halfway between Wasilla and Palmer. We came for Alaska Baseball and Fishing. All Aspen and Pine trees around cabin with creek view from front porch. Beautiful! 2 Cow Moose (1 with twin calves) hanging around. Got great photo's. Creek closed to all Salmon fishing. Saw couple of 3' Kings (on their last legs) in the creek. We caught, cooked, and ate, pan sized Dolly Varden trout from the creek.
Not a 2 bedroom as advertised, but 1 bedroom (Queen) with open loft (2 singles) and "only" reached by Ladder. Be advised-the water out of the tap is yellowish and has a strong Sulfer smell. Pretty much cancels out the Jacuzzi bathtub! Even showering leaves a sulfer smell on you. Advise you to buy bottled water to drink. Owner said she would bring by fresh linens every 4-5 days. Never happened in 2 weeks. We washed our towels at laundermat. You will have to have a car to get to anything. Bring bug spray and spray exposed skin and clothing and will keep the mosquitoes away.
Even with the negatives, better than any Hotel or motel we saw in the area. We viewed it as roughing it and enjoyed it. If you can get by the water problem, you will enjoy yourself but Insist on fresh Linens!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers

Owners response: The water at this location is supplied by a well. We have installed a water softening system w/ filtration, as well as an external filter on the kitchen faucet.
Also, it is Creekside Cabins policy to offer fresh linens every 3-5 days, or sooner upon request. It is our guest's choice whether or not to use this service. Upon check in, guest's are encouraged to call if in need of anything.
We encourage you contact us at any time if you have any questions.

My wife & I went to Alaska to experience a "real" winter & thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alaska Creekside Cabins. The cabin was very clean & comfortable and was just like described. We loved the location, as we were only a 10 min. drive to the grocery store. We even got to see the northern lights. Our cabin was perfect for viewing them. The host's were great and even helped us plan some day trips too. One thing to remember if you are visiting in the winter - not all attractions are open, so keep in mind while doing your planning.

Great Location, private and secure. Very nicely equipped kitchen, linens etc.

We stayed at the Chinook Cabin for two nights. It is on the owners property but quite a distance giving adequate privacy. The cabins are very nicely equipped with cable tv, wireless internet, full bathroom, deck, and all linens, utensils etc. There are three cabins next to one another, but we still felt that it was very private. My family really enjoyed the location and the privacy. The cabins are nicely lit outside on the deck and in back of the cabin where you park. The cabins were very clean and ready for use. The only thing you need to bring to this cabin is your food. I recommend this cabin to anyone passing through or extended stays.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Thank you very much for your review. We look forward to hosting you and your family again,
Diane
