The Isle of Palms, with its six miles of white, sandy
beaches, is as much a place of beautiful serenity for residents and
visitors today as it was 25,000 years ago for the Seewee Indians and
the colonists who followed. If you love history, you can spend your
entire vacation steeped in the history of Charleston and surrounding
islands. Just go a few miles from Wild Dunes toward Sullivan�s
Island and you will cross Breach Inlet where the Hunley submarine
put in during the Civil War. Sullivan�s Island has Fort Moultrie
and from there go to Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant where you can
tour the USS Yorktown. Then it is 15 minutes to downtown Charleston
where history abounds. It is a fascinating place to explore with
Revolutionary War & Civil War history and the history of the city.
There are Charleston web sites that will give you a list of all the
carriage tours, walking tours, boat tours. You can also tour Boone
Hall Plantation, Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, and Middleton Place.

But Charleston is not just history. There is the Aquarium for young
& old, great shopping, famous dining experiences, night life, golf
courses, tennis courts & many water sports available. There are eco-
tours, dinner cruises, & at the Wild Dunes Marina you can rent jet
skis, or go parasailing. You can fish right out our back door or go
deepwater fishing. Bike rental is available both in Wild Dunes &
Mt. Pleasant. The shopping and dining in Mt. Pleasant are also
great but many people are content to spend their week on the Isle of
Palms watching the ocean, swimming & playing on the beach.
