Cozy Cabin

SeattleVisitor (Seattle)
Review submitted: November 2, 2011   Date of arrival: October 21, 2011

We visited at the end of October when it was a little chilly and wet outside but the cabin was warm and cozy inside! Everything we needed for our family vacation was there including a full kitchen, comfortable living room and beds. The cabin was in great condition and very clean. Loved the short walk to our own little beach where we enjoyed views of the lake and fall leaves. Highly recommend for those family getaways. Our dogs also enjoyed the cabin. Thanks again for the hospitality and we look forward to visiting in the summer!

One of the most relaxing vacations ever

Kelly (Spring Creek, NV, USA)
Review submitted: July 14, 2011   Date of arrival: July 2, 2011

Before I rave about our vacation, a couple of things to know about this cabin. The description of "cabin" is very accurate. If you are looking for a lake "house" you may be disapointed. Additionally, while it may "sleep" 8, you certainly would not want 8 people trying to move around this place for any length of time.

My family likes to camp and take our travel trailer on extended vacations. We are a family of three with a German Shepard who weighs over 100lbs. We were very happy here. The floors are uneven, there is no AC, the kitchen is small, the second bedroom is literally a porch that has been walled in, there is little TV reception and the cabin is just a lot of fun to call home.

Without much TV or video games, we played games, read books, and spent a large amount of time outside as a family. We walked to the local ice cream shop a couple of times and explored the surounding area. We brought an inflatable raft and every evening took a row out onto the lake. We did some fishing, swimming, and hiking. The cabin is about 12 miles from Silverwood (an amusement park) and less than 30 minutes from towns big enough to support any dining or shopping needs. We rode rollercoaster, raced go carts, played miniature golf, and did a little shopping.

One thing that is not listed is the amount of "extras" in the cabin. We found a large amount of games, toys, squirt guns, and just fun stuff in the cabin. My ten year old son found some stacking cups and a timer and our family spent one late evening stacking cups. Stupid and fun.

We were there over the Independence Day weekend and man does this community know how to celebrate. There were fireworks being shot from one dock or another for three straight nights! We took our turn on the 4th and had a great time. I even fell in the lake while leaning back in my chair to watch the displays.

We were very lucky and had a family from Canada in the cabin that shared the dock. They had a 9 year old boy and my son became fast friends with him. The locals here are very friendly also.

My son said this was his favorite vacation ever and has thanked me about 10 times since we got home.

It was 12 straight hours of driving to get to the cabin and another 12 hours of driving to get home. It was worth every minute. We will be back to this lake!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, pet-friendly, romantic getaway
