Jaco House Rental Special

vacation rental description

"Professionally Managed with a Personal Touch by a Property Owner Who Cares!"

This is a very central, but private, location in the small fishing village of Tarcoles, only a 1½ hour drive from the San José airport. It's an oceanfront property with a beautiful view of the Pacific and you are able to watch magnificent sunsets from the large covered front porch or from our beautiful raised gazebo. Scarlet macaws fly over morning and evening going to and from their feeding grounds and often spend time throughout the day in the trees on and around the property. Two of them can be seen in the photos, having breakfast in the almond trees at the front of the house.
We also have a large covered patio at the back, great for watching the sunrise with your 1st morning coffee, and have recently added a bodega next to the house, with an additional roomy bedroom and bathroom, that sleeps 2 more people. It is available if you have 5 persons or more in your group for an additional charge. Very nice & private.
You can walk on the beach for miles, sometimes without seeing another soul! Less than a 10 minute drive to the north is the Tarcoles River where you often see huge crocodiles basking in the sun.
Buy fresh fish for your supper, right off the boats, from the Cooperativa only a two minute walk down the road or, if you prefer, you can go to one of the many restaurants within a few minutes drive. For all your grocery needs there is a new, up-to-date grocery store within a 10 min. drive south of the house. Jaco, 20 min. south, also boasts several modern grocery stores, a variety of restaurants, as well as many clothing and souvenir shops.
We are five minutes from Carara Biological Reserve where you are able to hike for hours and view the nesting boxes of the macaws. You will also see many other varieties of birds and animals. We are only 20 minutes north of Jaco, a major surfing area, and an easy one hour and 45 minute drive north of the beautiful Manuel Antonio Park where you can see white-faced and spider monkeys swinging through the trees, or perhaps a sloth, moving in slow motion through the branches.
Sorry, no computer, but we have DSL high speed internet so bring your laptop & keep in touch with your unfortunate friends & family who weren't able to join you in beautiful Costa Rica!
As an added bonus, our English speaking manager is available to help you out, if required, with car rentals, tours (to Arenal Volcano, Monteverde Cloud Forest, zip lines or maybe deep-sea fishing), or anything else that you may need. She will even stock the fridge & cupboards before your arrival! If you are looking for a home away from home, where you can get in touch with nature & see the real Costa Rica, look no further than "Casa Sammie".

"Thanks for the memories"

Review submitted: March 4, 2010   Date of arrival: February 1, 2010

"From the moment we arrived until we left one month later, we knew we had found a little bit of True Paradise. The home was everything that was advertised and more. The grounds were cleaned daily as was the pool. We ate star fruit from the trees on the property, and waited with anticipation for the bananas and pineapple to ripen. The gardens are beautiful, with flowers of every colour and description. We spent countless hours in the pool. The resident dogs, Jackson and Lizzie were our companions for our daily excursions on the beach. The gazebo was our favourite place of refuge with several hours spent relaxing from the heat of the day. We watched cruise ships and other vessels make their way up the coast, a wonderful spectacle at night as they glide past with lights shimmering off the water. The almond trees that are in Tarcoles and surrounding the property are feeding grounds for the Scarlet Macaws which come in early morning and late afternoon to feed. The property manager was very helpful, assisting us with transportation and reservations to the hotel and thermal waters at Arenal volcano. She also made dinner reservations at Villa Caletas, a 15 minute drive from the house. Villa Caletas is a fine dining facility. Plan your meal to coincide with the sunset, as the Villa sits high above the Pacific Ocean. Chepes Bar in Tarcoles was also a great place to eat local fare. We would recommend Carara Restaurant as another fine place to eat. Trips to Carara Park and Manuel Antonio Park were spectacular. Many indigenous animals were spotted on the trails such as green and black poison dart frogs, two and three toed sloths, nesting scarlet macaws and white faced monkeys to name a few. Other adventures enjoyed nearby were zip line excursions and bike riding. We caught the local bus to Jaco Beach and Orotina to visit the open air markets and shops. We would highly recommend this home as a great place for a family to enjoy Costa Rica as it really is, in all its beauty. "

Wonderful spot to vacation in CR

Review submitted: January 7, 2010   Date of arrival: December 23, 2009

Hi Lynn & Larry,
Just wanted to drop a line to say thank you for a wonderful spot to vacation in CR. Your home is located perfectly for travel to different adventures. Tarcoles is definitely a quaint little fishing village and we just thoroughly enjoyed everything. The fish from the co-op was so good I think we ate it 4 nights. All the dogs in the neighbourhood have great personalities. We had lots of relaxing time by the pool to catch a tan that was pretty much impossible to get this past summer. Lizzy is very cute and I'm sure her name was given appropriately.... a very good lizard guard! Sammie is the most polite dog I have ever met. No way was she coming into the house. Two steps in for a treat and that's as far as she would go. The blender was a very useful piece of equipment as I used it daily to whip up the frozen drink of the day. Your Tiki hut is absolutely gorgeous and this is where we ate all of our fish dinners and played Euchre nightly. The scarlet macaws are also absolutely gorgeous and how lucky were we to be able to watch them daily flying over us (not to mention squawking.....they all sound like old married couples). We could have easily named them as well, after some of our squawking friends, but instead we just laid back and enjoyed all the vacation sounds. A thousand pictures of them later, I think we captured a few good ones to frame. Thank you for recommending the Vista Golfo zip lining. It was one of the best things (we all agreed) that we could of done in CR. Last but not least Patri was wonderful to have around and very helpful. She joined us a couple of times for the drink of the day or a glass of wine (sometimes both). Thanks again to both of you for sharing your CR home with vacationers such as ourselves who don’t always want the all inclusive vacation. Simple put it was wonderful!!! All the best for 2010.

Central location

Review submitted: December 20, 2009   Date of arrival: July 20, 2009

Casa Sammie is well-situated for ziplining, for birding, for crocodile viewing and for an incredible fish market in walking distance. Patricia is a treasure indeed and her advice and planning made all the difference in our trip. Do not miss the sunset at Villa Caletas. Or the day visit to Tortuga Island in the Bay of Nicoya.
