Just six blocks from Merida’s central Plaza (Plaza de Independencia)
in the lovely Santiago neighborhood, Casa San Mateo can be your home
away from home for a week, month or year. With two bedrooms (with
Queen beds), two full bathrooms, spacious livingroom, eat-in
kitchen,
large roof patio and filtered dipping pool, it can serve as your
full-
time residence or jumping-off point for trips to the beaches,
archeological sites, haciendas and Mayan villages of the Yucatan.
Simply decorated in lively Mexican colors with Oaxacan weavings and
other folk art, Casa San Mateo is a delightful oasis in the midst of
this bustling colonial city. Close to restaurants, shops, the
Santiago mercado, churches and a variety of original colonial
structures, it couldn’t be more ideally situated.

The house amenities include satellite television with English-
language channels; microwave, toaster oven and gas stove; washing
machine; and hot water heater. Our house manager can stock the
refrigerator with your favorite foods and beverages before you
arrive, and is available in case of a house emergency. Not
recommended for families with small children and toddlers.

Don't miss Merida's mercados (large & small), Museum of
Anthropology,
Plaza de Independencia, Paseo de Montejo, and Sunday around the
Plaza. Rent a car or use one of the local tour companies for day or
overnight trips to Chichen Itza & Uxmal; the haciendas and ex-
convents; the flamingo reserve at Celestun; and, of course, the
beaches.
