Spend the night overlooking the famed white picket fence and
Mississippi River. This second floor apartment is located on the
adjacent block of Mark Twain's childhood home and one block from the
Mississippi River. This three story gabled brick building was built
in 1836, and is part of the architectural history of Hannibal's
Historic Business District. There is a storefront on the first
floor. The Living room overlooks Main Street, its many shops, and
is complete with the original pocket doors. There are wide pine
floors and 12 foot ceilings. This 1150 square foot shotgun style
apartment opens to two bedrooms (second bedroom is combination
sitting/sleeping room with fold-down sofa). One bath (shower only),
and a fully equipped kitchen/dining area. Furnishings are
reminisecent of the turn of the 19th century. The kitchen has a
beautiful view of the Mississippi River overlooking the levee, the
Riverboat dock, and the railroad tracks. The flat is complete with
a full size bed, fold down sofa, and two single rollaways to sleep 4-5.
There is off street private parking.

The apartment has central air conditioning, is complete with a fully
stocked kitchen, with TV, microwave, coffeemaker, etc. Linens for
sleeping, and basic toiletries are provided. There is laundry on the premises.
The bedroom has a 20 inch TV, and the living room is equipped with a 27 inch flat screen TV/DVD with home theatre system. All electronics in the living room are hidden behind period french doors, and the front two rooms are separated by the original 1830's pocket doors to add privacy.

The apartment is within the Hannibal Historic Business District and
has multiple blocks with Museums and Tours of Mark Twain's childhood
area, gift shops, ice cream parlors, antique shops, quilt shops,
glass artisans, local diners, and restaurants, and an excellent
group of art galleries showcasing quality local artists. One half
block is Java Jive, a cool local coffee joint with wi-fi. The
business district also has a dinner theatre, or you can take one
of many daily cruises or a dinner cruise on the Mark Twain, the
local paddlewheel boat based just two blocks from the apartment.
You can hear the calliope play as the paddlewheel sets out on each
cruise. Don't forget the daily tours of the local Rockcliffe
Mansion, about seven blocks up the bluff. Our location is great.
All you have to do is walk down the stairs and you are ready to have
a wonderful time.
The Mississippi River is also famous for great bird watching. We
are a great jumping off spot to take your favorite routes around the
area. In the fall, the area is absolutely stunning with the bluffs
full of color. One block away is the Riverfront city park, and
four blocks down river is another City Park and Marina.
Just 5 minutes from Mark Twain Cave, you are on the route of
the Great Scenic River Road which runs on the Missouri and Illinois
side. Historic Clarksville, MO is just 45 minutes south and
Louisiana, Mo is just 30 minutes south.
River Arts Festival in late May. Professional artists and
artisans in the historic river towns of Hannibal, Louisiana,
Clarksville, and surrounding communities are opening their studios,
galleries, and retail spaces for their semi-annual Studio and
Gallery Tour.
National Tom Sawyer Days Independence Day in July. Now in its 50th
plus year. Activities include frog jumping, mud volleyball, Tom and
Becky Contest, parade, Tomboy Sawyer Contest, 10-Kilometer run, Arts
and Crafts Show.
Highlights include National Fence Painting Contest and a huge
fireworks display launched from the banks of the Mississippi River
on the evening of the Fourth.
Folklife Festival late October. Stroll the streets of
this regional favorite 1800s-themed festival as artists, artisans,
and craftsmen demonstrate and sell historic crafts, traditional
arts, fine arts and crafts. In addition there will be street
musicians playing traditional tunes, food cooked on wood stoves,
cider fresh from the apple press, and a children�s area.

Extended rental and corporate discounts available.I accept all major credit cards, and personal checks. Payment by check must be made 20 days prior to checkin.
1/2 the rental fee is due immediately to hold the dates.
Balance of rental plus $200 security deposit (refundable) must be
received a minimum of 20 days prior to checkin.
Doggie day care available downstairs at Groomingdale's Pet Boutique. Grooming available with appointment.
Security deposit is immediately refunded following the cleaning after
checkout.
