Vacation Rental Description

Rent this private cottage on Lake Michigan. Enjoy your own Beach on  
Sleeping Bear Bay for a whole week! Waterfront property.

Location:     1 mile west of Glen Arbor, off of M-109 
              3 miles from the Dunes
             16 miles from Leland
             28 miles from Traverse City

Located on Sleeping Bear Bay in Northwestern Lower Michigan's 
Leelanau County. Quaint BEACHSIDE COTTAGE is only 28 miles from 
Traverse City and 45 minutes from the Cherry Capital Airport. The 
Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore is just across the highway behind 
our road.  

Centered at the middle of the bay's beach, you look to the left and 
see the dunes.  Turn right and see Pyramid Point, the tip of the 
eastern arm of the bay, home of Camp Leelanau for Boys and Camp 
Kohahna for Girls.  

The shoreline is 150 feet in front of the cottage, the blue and 
white beautiful Manitou Islands are 8 and 10 miles straight out.

The 50 year old, newly remodeled cottage has knotty pine living room 
with vaulted ceiling, red brick fireplace with gas insert, knotty 
pine kitchen/dining room. Tile floors with rugs. Owner is author and 
lives in cottage year/round except for rental periods.

Owner's family own homes either side of the cottage--a family place!

Vacation Rental Amenities

This cottage  has two floors with a 3/4 bath and two bedrooms 
above--a full bed in one and a two twins in the other. Stall 
shower. *Note: steep 10" stairs (8" is standard).

Downstairs is one bedroom with a queensize bed, a utility room with 
washer/dryer, a full bath, kitchen with diswasher, dining area, 
living room with a queen-sized sofa bed, screened in porch on the 
lake side, lakeside attached deck, back patio with lounge area. 
Piano. Lawn and gardens behind and woods behind that. Pullout 
sofabed. Rollaway on the porch can be moved to curtained and 
carpeted utility room.

Heated gas fireplace insert--romantic, lovely, easy. Additional 
baseboard heating if needed. Air conditioned. Comfortably sleeps 8. 
Add our porch rollaway for the 9th. Office/laundry room is carpeted 
and can house your port-o-crib for Baby, or roll the porch bed 
inside to this room. Charcoal Weber grill in back yard, willow 
furniture; umbrella table and chairs on front deck; rattan eating 
table and chairs, overstuffed rattan chairs, rollaway on screened-in 
front porch facing the lake--our favorite "indoor" spot in the 
summer.

Activities and Attractions

+Walk  half a mile down the wooded highway and treat yourself to an 
ice cream cone as you watch the band on their outdoor deck.  

+Rent a canoe for half a day and float down the Crystal River, just 
minutes from the cottage.  

+Shop till you drop at the many gift shops and galleries inthe 
area.  

+Climb the magnificent sand dunes at the hill climb, just 3 miles 
away.    

+Take a sunset drive on the Park's scenic drive that overlooks Lake 
Michigan from on high. 

*Or park yourself on the beach and watch the waves roll in. 

*Build a sandcastle. 

*Swim in the clear blue water.

*Bring your boat for a great time on Lake Michigan or any of the 
surrounding lakes.

*Evenings, put jigsaw puzzles together on the porch, or play board 
games at the kitchen table.

*Build a bonfire after dinner and roast marshmallows for smores as 
you watch the sun set. 

+Take a wine-tasting tour of the Leelanau and Old Mission wineries!

We are 5 miles from Camps Leelanau and Kohahna, and minutes from  
the Homestead Resort. Day Drives include Petoskey and Harbor Springs-
-north of Traverse City, and Mackinac Island-- home of the movie 
Somewhere in Time.  Beulah, Pointe Betsy, the Manistee River, 
Frankfort and Benzonia are a fun daytrip. We can furnish you with 
more information on things to do and see in the area upon request.

Vacation Rental Rates

Weekly rentals only between June 15 and Sept. 15. Check calendar for 
availability.

Summers (June 15-Sept 15): $3000/wk. 
Off-season Rates (Sept 16-June 14): $1500/wk. 
Weekend rentals during off-season:  $350/night 

Terms: 
Weekly - plus $250 refundable cleaning/damage/long distance deposit. 
50% payable immediately with two more payments of 25%. 
Weekend -plus $100 refundable cleaning/damage/long distance deposit. 
50% payable immediately, 50% due 14 days before arrival.

Cancellation policy: We will make an honest effort at re-renting. 
Deposits and payments refunded upon re-rental.
