This is a non smoking cabin.

If you're looking for a beachfront cabin, I really don't think you'll find one that's closer to the
water anywhere on The Bolivar Peninsula than our Stingaree cabin. You can almost fish off the front
deck, but still have room to play on the beach! Please see the other photos at the bottom of this
page, and make sure to email us for our primary website which has lots more photos and information.

Our prices are less because we don't pay a management company. We take care of the cabin ourselves,
and we pass the savings on to you! The address is 963 S. Stingeree, in the Maryland Subdivision.
We are just down the street from the world famous Stingeree Restaurant. We are on the beachfront,
and the Stingeree Restaurant is on the Intra-Coastal Waterway. Close to everything, yet far from
everything. This isn't Ambergris Caye, then of course it doesn't cost as much. Just use your
imagination to make the water blue, but of course it's sandy. Built in 1985, it is kept neat and
clean. We have it professionally checked and sanitized before each guest arrives. It's not the
Waldorf=Astoria, so we don't have all the cute little soaps and shampoos, but we have convenience
and solitude (except for the zoo, which is about a mile to the west, depending on the holiday).
Crystal Beach has a very laid back atmosphere, which is probably what you're looking for when you
get away from the city. We have two full size sleeper sofas in the living room, a full size bed in
Bedroom #1 and a futon style bunkbed in the #2 bedroom, with a full size mattress on the bottom, and
twin size on the top. If you try it once, you will be back! We offer a 15% discount for previous
guests! More than half of our guests are returning guests!

Directions:

From Houston, Galveston: Take IH 45 S to Harborside Drive, Texas
Hwy. 275, exit 1C (just past Galveston Causeway). Exit Harborside,
Go under freeway and proceed east on Harborside for 8.1 miles
through The Strand area and past UTMB to T stoplight. Turn left on
Ferry road to ferry. Don't carry gas cans in your vehicle on the
ferry, and make sure your registration and inspection is up to
date. The DPS rides the ferry and writes tickets onboard to
their "captive" audience. After exiting ferry, drive east on Hwy 87
for 14.4 miles to Stingeree Road. Turn Right to the last house on
the right (beachfront) Note: The speed limit is as low as 45 MPH
in some places on Hwy 87 and they mean it!

From Beaumont / Winnie, IH 10: Take Winnie exit, Highway 124.
Drive south (20 miles) through High Island to the coastline. Turn
right on Hwy 87. Proceed 4.7 Miles past Rollover Pass to Stingeree
Road. Turn left (south) to the last house on the right (beachfront)

Please remember the following house rules:

1. No smoking inside. If you smoke outside, don't throw your butts
on the ground. Smoking inside will result in loss of deposit.

in an overflow and you'll be responsible for cleaning it up and
paying for all damages. Occupancy AND/OR USE by more than 10
persons WILL cause septic tank problems. Your deposit WILL be
forfeited.

3. We recommend that you bring your own linens and towels. There
is a full size bed bedroom #1, two full size sleeper sofas in the
living room, and a futon style bunkbed in bedroom #2. (Full size
futon on bottom and twin mattress up). Although it hasn't happened
yet, if there's a chance your little ones might wet the bed, please
take appropriate precautions. Damages will be deducted from
deposit.

4. We always try to supply many items for our guests, you might
want to consider bringing toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates
if necessary, extra ice, dishwashing liquid. Bath and hand soap.

Yellow, Blue, etc.). When the waves are up, there will be a deadly
undertow and the possibility of being swept out to sea on a
surfboard or float. Recovery may not be possible.

be cleaned at $25.00 per hour with a 6 hour minimum. All damage

Please call us immediately if you find any evidence of past damage
we may have missed.

14. Please take all unused food items from the refrigerator when
you leave.

15. This is a beachfront cabin. There is a chance (usually in
January or February), but occasionally in other months, that an
abnormally high tide could occur, so do not park your car under the
house. It should be obvious when the tide is up. Trailers should be
OK, but take appropriate precautions. Please park your cars on the
east side. Again, the is parking for 10,000 cars on the beach, but
beach parking requries a $10.00 beach parking permit, readily obtainable
at most local stors.

16. Please contact Jeanne Reedy, our beach property manager when you
check out at the number on your receipt

activities and attractions in Crystal Beach Texas

Rollover Fish Pass

Located in Gilchrist, 20
miles east on Hwy 87 from the Ferry landing and 7 miles west from
the intersection of Hwy 87 and 124 at High Island at the beach, this
fish cut was dug in the fifties to connect the Gulf of Mexico with
Galveston Bay. It was financed by a conservation organization in
Beaumont to give the migrating fish a means of getting from the Gulf
to the Bay to spawn. In the spring and fall it is a great place to
catch your limit on an incoming tide. Live bait is available, just
bring your lawn chairs and ENJOY !!

Surf Fishing

Fishing in the surf is a relaxing, economical and sometimes
rewarding experience. Take your rod and reel, some bait (live or
dead) or a mirror lure, wade out to the waist deep water on the
second sand bar and toss your line out and see what happens. Could
be great. Surf fishing is especially good in the summer when the
green water comes all the way to the beach. The speckeled trout are
hungry and ready to take a lure or live shrimp.

North Jetty

Renowned fishing spot for miles around. You can walk out on the
rocks, (the concrete only runs for about a block), for almost a
mile. Dedicated fisherpeople spend hours on the slippery rocks in
pursuit of the big one! Friendly atmosphere, you can take the kids,
cause the crabbing is also very good, and their pursuit brings lots
of memories of the little ones trying to keep the crabs on the line!
Road to the North Jetty is about two miles east of the Ferry landing.

Drive East on Hwy 87 from the ferry landing to the junction of Loop
108 and Hwy 87. Turn right towards the Gulf of Mexico. You will come
to a wide, flat expanse of beach that has very little surf and
shallow water making it ideal for small children. One can find
interesting shells - perhaps an olive or a wentletrap - certain
times of the year. This area is called "The Flats" and is an
excellent place to observe many differnt species of water fowl. It
is a natural nesting ground and feeding area. In the '60s, families
would move to the "flats", to spend the summer living
out on the beach and working their 2000 foot nets to bring in the
catch of the day, hundreds of speckled trout! Also in the nets were
dozens of live crabs, sting-rays, mullet, poagies, sharks. That
event was one of the highlights of the day for the summer visitors.
We could take all the crabs we were willing to rescue out of the
nets, without getting pinched!!. (Now those nets are unlawful!)

Go Fishing and Crabbing at the North Jetty

The North Jetty is about 1-1/2 miles East of the Ferry Landing.
This granite rock jetty extends several miles into the Gulf of
Mexico The first 200 yards is a paved walkway. To get beyond that
point, you must climb over the granite rocks. There is a small boat
cut about one mile from shore. You can usually catch a good mess of
crabs and most of the year the fishing is good. Bait and
refreshments are available. Lots of FUN!! Children can play on the
nearby beaches.

Take a Ferryboat Ride

Drive to the tip of Bolivar at the ferry landing and leave your car
in the parking lot. Board the ferry for a ride across Galveston Bay.
Bring a loaf of bread or a package of crackers, and maybe some
binoculars. When you are underway go the rear of the boat and feed
the hungry seagulls. The children will delight in watching the gulls
dive for food. Be sure to wear a hat because you never know what
might fall out of the sky. You have a good chance of spotting some
dolphins playing alongside the boat. And people watching is a great
sport for all ages! When you get to the Galveston side stay on board
and return to Bolivar.

Save One Day For Galveston

Spend a day in Galveston browsing on the Strand. There are blocks
and blocks of intriguing shops and gourmet restaurants. See the
stately Bishop's Palace on Broadway. The Railroad Museum is a
whimsical delight. On the ship channel near the elegant Harbor House
Hotel is the old sailing ship "Elissa".
Visit the Moody Gardens -
Discover a ten story Rainforest Pyramid with over 2,000 species of
exotic plants, animals and butterflies from Asia, Africa and the
Americas. At the IMAX, (on the Moody grounds), see images in 3-D
that leap off the screen to the awesome sensation of IMAX digital
sound. In the same rotunda enjoy gourmet meals with spectacular
nightly Dancing Waters fountain displays at the Garden
Restaurant. The museum shop has nature inspired gifts from around the
world. There are acres of gardens and jogging trails to explore.
Daily cruises aboard the luxurious Colonel Paddlewheel Boat leave
from the dock there.

The children will especially enjoy Palm Beach at Moody Gardens, with
a massive freshwater swimming pool with sandy beach surrounding it.
Most of it is shallow water. There are lawn chairs, umbrellas and a
concession stand. Great!
