The two-storey cottage, level with the lake, was built around 1890 and converted into a summer
cottage at the turn of the century. It's been in my family since 1935.
We have 250' of private beach on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake. The lake offers views of more
than 10 miles to the north and the picturesque cove of Lodi Point to the south.
The screened front porch, about 30 feet from the water, is perfect for dining, reading, or just
rocking the afternoon away.
The living room features comfortable lounging, library, TV and DVD.
The fully-equipped kitchen, with microwave, coffee maker, and all appliances, combines the charm
of the 1950s with modern conveniences. The lakeside garden nearby features fresh herbs.
Sleeps 4 in an open-floor plan second storey, with a double bed overlooking the lake, and bunk
beds in the back around the corner. Bathroom with tub and shower.
The fishing in Seneca Lake's clear, clean water, is good and the sunsets are fantastically
beautiful.
Cable TV and DVD player, gas grill, picnic table, rope swing, firepit and lounge chairs, rowboat
available for use. We have a swim raft.
The nearby village of Lodi, while a tiny town, offers some of the finest wineries in the Finger
Lakes Region. One of the wineries in Lodi includes an excellent restaurant. Neighboring Amish
farmers provide some of the best vegetables in the region.
The Seneca Lake Wine Trail between Lodi and Watkins Glen offers 23 wineries in 23 miles. Some
wineries offer excellent dining for lunch or dinner. Neighboring Amish farmers provide fresh
fruits and vegetables in season onn roadside stands.
Just to the south, in Hector, is New York's only National Forest - the Finger Lakes National
Forest. With hiking trails crossing federal grazing land, the walk is similar to trails in England.
Tthe cottage is about half an hour's drive from Ithaca, home to Cornell University and Ithaca
College. Ithaca offers a variety of great restaurants, shopping opportunities, and beautiful
gardens.
Watkins Glen, with its Grand Prix Racing, is 30 minutes away, as is Geneva with Hobart and William
Smith Colleges.
Nearby Seneca Falls, also a half hour drive, is home to the Women's Rights Movement and Elizabeth
Cady Stanton.
Neigboring Taughannock Falls State Park, with its spectacular falls, is between Lodi and Ithaca.
Golf is only a 10-minute drive and the state maintains a boat ramp at Lodi Point.
