Mis Casas Aventuras de la Jungla Amable in Bacalar

Mis Casas -Aventuras de la Jungla Amable is located at the north end of Laguna Bacalar, 30km north of the town of Bacalar.

 At km 59 on highway 307 turn east and drive 4km down the dirt road that winds through the jungle until you arrive at lot # 44. We are located on
the same lake as the town of Bacalar but 30km north of the town
itself on a very private section of the lake which is now part of
a Federal Biosphere Reserve area.

If you are coming from Cancun International Airport you can rent a car and drive south on HWY 307 past Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Felipe Carillo Puerto,and Limones. 5km past the turnoff to Majahual you will reach the small town of Pedro Santos. At the south end of town look for Hwy marker 59  and the radio tour and that is where you will turn east and enter the jungle. The trip from the airport to the beauty of Mis Casas takes about 4 hours depending on traffic and other factors. You can also take a bus from the airport to Playa del Carmen (about 45 minutes south) and then hop on a second class bus that will let
you right off in Pedro Santos. There are taxis or friendly locals that will drive you in the 4km for about 100-150 pesos.

Mis Casas offers a true eco-friendly vacation adventure. There are 3
second floor apartments that are literally in the tree canopy and
offer gorgeous views of the lake. There is also an accessible ground
floor unit in a separate building with its own roof top patio.  There is also a small eco-camping site that accomodates a 4 person tent and has it's own outdoor shower. Small camper vans can also be accomodated.

Mis is Maya for cat and Casas is Spanish for houses and thus Mis Casas
apartments are named after our love of all cats big and small.

Oscar is the 2-bedroom apartment and Jursee and Missy are our 2
bachelor apartments. All of these apartments are fully furnished with
comfortable beds, kitchen facilities and three piece bathrooms with
hot and cold water. The bachelor units each have their own private
balcony and the two bedroom unit has a in-unit lounge area in
addition to its large eat-in kitchen and outdoor courtyard viewing
area. These three 2nd floor units share a beautiful common landing
area with patio furniture, and spectacular jungle view.

Tinker is a ground floor accessible unit located in its own private
building that has a roof top patio area. This unit does not have in-
unit kitchen facilities but customers have access to the common
palapa bar/kitchen space.

A beautiful Jungle camping site  is available which can accomodate a 3-4 person tent for those seeking an inexpensive and eco-friendly way to reside lakeside. This spot has its own outdoor shower area and a shade palapa.

Located deep in the jungle Mis Casas is "off grid" and the
electricity at Mis Casas is provided by a rooftop solar system. All
units have lights and electrical sockets. The hot water, stoves and
refrigerators run on propane. In-unit propane fridges are only turned on for stays of 3 days or longer. The common fridge in the palapa is available for use for all guests. Candle power is also readily available and very romantic and soothing.Customers should always carry a flashlight with them
in the evenings. The common area ground have solar lights to brighten up
the walking paths.

This area is a birders paradise. You may see Toucans, Masked Tytiras, Squirrel Coo Coos, Mot Mots, Laughing Falcons, Kingfishers and many more kinds of birds.  Some guests have reported seeing their "first evers" here.  Avid butterfly fans also find this jungle retreat enchanting.

 Because of the location (4km off the main highway and lakeside) walking on the dirt roads can be a nature lovers dream come true. Perhaps you will see an Ocelot (large cat), monkeys, a Tapir, or any number of tropical birds, insects and small reptiles and mammals. For the canoeist, well the lake is spectacularily beautiful and short or long trips will delight you.  Imagine... you can canoe 1km north and tie up your canoe and have a fun filled time at Camping Laguna Azul restaurant that offers delicious cuisine and ice cold drinks.  If you dont want to venture  off Mis Casas property...well enjoy dinner in your own apartment or spend quality time in  our boathouse, palapa bar/kitchen and  cook on ourwood fired pizza oven and BBQ.

Accomodatiorn rentals include use of all Mis Casas common areas

Mis Casas offers a number of 1-4 hour canoe tours, bird watching and jungle treks. Arrangements for guided
tours or trip planning and equipment rental for longer canoe/kayak trips
are also available .

It is possible to  explore, by canoe,  the entire length of Laguna Bacalar (55 km long) and the connecting lakes of Chili Verde and Laguna Gerrero and the Rio Hondo river that forms the border of Mexico and Belize.

The seaside town of Majahual is just 65km east (little
over 1 hour drive).The ruins of Chacchoben (15 km away) and Kohunlich
(2hrs) are the closest Maya Ruins 
Explore the eco-parque of  Uchben Kah (north end of lake 1.5km
paddle)- which offers kayak rentals, nature walks, lakeside lounge chairs  and a great swimming

You can even zip-line close by at the new adventure location called Bio Maya, just past Buenavista and before Bacalar.

The town of Pedro Santos has many small stores including a bakery,
grocery and beer store, tortilla factory, pollo asado outlets and much
more. You can walk the 4km into town and bird watch along the way!

OSCAR- 2 Bedroom apartment $100.00 per night or $650.00 per week
based on up to 4 people. $120.00 per night or $750.00 per week for
5 or 6 people. Rent this apartment for a month for $1,750.00. This unit has a fully equipped kitchen including propane fridge and 3-burner-stove. One bedroom has a king size bed  and the other bedroom has a double bed and single cot. The lounge area can also be used as a sleeping place (bench and also a double hammock)

MISSY- Bachelor apartment $60.00 per night or $380.00 per week or
$1,500.00 per month for one or two people, add $10.00 per night for a
third person. This unit has a kitchen with propane 2 burner-stove. The unit has a queen size canopy bed. There is a private balcony.

JURSEE- Bachelor apartment $55.00 per night or $350.00 per week or
$1,300.00 per month for one or two people, add $10.00 per night for a
third person. This unit has a fully equipped kitchen with propane fridge and 2-burner stove. There is a single bed and a 3/4 quarter (can sleep two people)bed. There is a private balcony.

TINKER-Accessible unit $50.00 per night or $320.00 per week or
$1200.00 per month for one or two people. This unit does not have in
unit kitchen facilities but the general use palapa does have a fridge and stove can be used by guests staying in Tinker.

Eco-Camping Located lakeside this jungle space has room for one four -person tent, small shade palapa, outdoor shower, and outdoor toilet with spectacular jungle vegetation surrounding the camping area. The camping rate is $10 per night per person, $15 for two people, $25 for three people or $30 for 4 people.
Small Camper Vans can also be accomodated.

SPECIAL ALL INCLUSIVE RATE: Because of the privacy offered at Mis
Casas it is a lovely location to rent all the units at once. Perfect
for a group of friends or family reunion. A weekly rate of $1,500.00
for 5-9 people renting all the units or a rate of $1,750.00 for 10-14
people applies. This inclusive deal includes exclusive rental of the
common areas of Mis Casas grounds. Your hosts Katarina and Kim will
