"Balmont" is located on the top of a hill in les Monts du Lyonnais, a small mountain range southwest of Lyon. A tastefully renovated country farm house that sits above a hamlet of five houses, is completely private, has spectacular views and sunsets, this light-filled property is surrounded by quiet farm paths leading through rolling fields and magical, lush forests. The sky is filled with bright stars at night, unbelievable!

The nearest village, Larajasse, is about 7km from the house and has a local café, a fresh-food market, one restaurant, one bakery and two chateaus.

The house is a traditional stone construction, and the interior of the house combines traditional country style with modern amenities. This house has been featured in numerous home decorating magazines. It is beautifully accessorized, simple yet elegant.

Comfortable central heating units are installed and the water is heated by electricity. Windows are not double-paned, so using the fireplace in the Winter is necessary. Old tile and original wide-board wooden floors, wooden beams and plaster walls give a very authentic feel to the house.

The great room, downstairs, features a traditional open fireplace. It is very large and has one door leading to the kitchen, one door leading to the first floor bedroom, and a third door leading upstairs.

The newly remodeled kitchen includes a modern electric/gas stovetop with 3 gas burners and one electric burner. The convection oven is electric. The kitchen has a small refrigerator/freezer. We offer all cooking and eating utensils.

The bathroom includes a sink, bathtub with showerhead but no standing shower, a separate, connected room for toilet, toiletries cabinet and clothes drying rack.

The master bedroom has three large windows looking out to the back yard
and a king-size bed and two bedside tables with reading lamps. It also has a spacious sliding-door closet with hanging space and storage baskets for clothes and a comfortable arm chair.

The second upstairs bedroom contains two twin beds side-by-side, two bedside tables with reading lamps, a large, hand-carved armoire with hanging space and storage baskets for clothes, and a book case.

The upstairs reading area contains two comfortable armchairs, pillows, reading lamp and ottoman.

The downstairs bedroom contains a built-in, wooden armoire with shelves, two beds foot-to-foot, a small desk, armchair and ottoman. This is the room where you can get internet access and where one of the two phone docks is located.

This property is extremely suitable for a small group of friends or family. It sleeps up to six comfortably (8 possible), on one king-size bed, 4 twin-size beds, and two couches, located in the living room downstairs.

The washing machine is located upstairs in its own room, which also has stairs leading to an unfinished attic. There is no dryer, but there are two long sun drenched clothes lines easily accessed in the back yard and a wooden clothes rack in the WC.

"Balmont" is located only 30km from the magnificent Loire River offering swimming, boating, kayaking and picnicking possibilities. It is also 46km from the center of Lyon, France's second largest city, home to a wonderful, weekly antiques market, amazing food possibilities, world class restaurants, Roman ruins, great shopping and art museums. This is also the city of the convergence of the Rhone River and the Saone River forming the peninsula known as the "Presqu'ile."

Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise is a lovely town 10 minutes away by car, where you will find a supermarket, butcher, artisan baker, fish market, pharmancy, drycleaner, shopping and a great open air market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Saint Galmier is a walled medieval village in the Loire, 20 minutes away by car, with an elegant casino, a fantastic pool, 8 amazing restaurants, antique stores, art galleries, a hippodrome (horse races and shows) and so much charm.

Les Monts du Lyonnais is a magnificent, authentic, undiscovered, rural community, with hundreds of small hamlets and villages to explore. The residents are genuine and warm and truly French. This is not a touristy area at all, but it is magical. An ideal rural location, less than 50 minutes drive from beautiful Lyon.
