We enjoyed our weekend at the stone cottage - it was close to downtown Asheville but felt "away from it all" once we were there. We were excited see a pileated woodpecker just off the deck. It was beautifully decorated , and had all the kitchen stuff we needed to cook a couple of meals. The driveway would have been a challenge for a very large vehicle, and the spiral stairs would be a little difficult for some older adults.

What a Special Place! Stayed for 4 nights end of Oct 2011 and couldn't have done any better if I tried. Very professional transaction and booking. Stone Cottage is a very upscale cabin right in the Heart of Asheville and centrally located and a couple minutes from everything. This place is sure to not disappoint. Spectacular views from wrap around deck high on the mountain.

We rented this cottage from June 11th to September 9th , 2011. The cottage was not clean and definetly NOT well maintained. I would not recommend this property to a friend or relative. The listing photos do not accurately reflect the rental's appearance and amenities. When we arrived at the cottage , there had been a rainstorm. The very steep driveway to the cottage was littered with debris from leaves and branches. We skidded our way to the top. No one had cleared the driveway of debris for some time. Upon entering the unit we found the lower floor to be covered with dead and living beetles. (still coming in after visit by exterminator) and leaf debris. After one day the gas grill ran out of gas; the microwave died; then , a power failure occurred(short circuit in wiring); glass slider door lock broken; loose sink connection in mbath(?) ; loose towel bar(mbath); roll down shade lower level broken;exterior of cottage littered with old supplies , rug pieces generally unkempt. The downstairs has a rug (stained and dirty) Because of the bugs in the laundry room going in there is not for the fainthearted. Is there any good news? The location is good. You are in the woods but near everything. The "property manager" seemed a but overwhelmed but was responsive. The handyman came out as did the property manager to address the issues I raised. My question is why weren't these taken care of before? We were here looking to purchase a home. We were delayed several times waiting for handyman to come and repair/replace things; and exterminator visits. This unit was and is not up to the standards I would expect for a rental unit. I am guessing that you are dealing with an absentee owner . In my opinion the cottage is in need of some major cleanup, repair and overall sprucing up before it should be rented again.
