Welcome to Mamacitas!  Mamacitas is San Juan del Sur’s only true
historic home available for rent that has a world class view and
modern amenities.  The house is a remodeled and modernized two-bedroom
original plank wood home that four Nicaraguan families have lived in
and raised their kids in for the past 60+ years.  It is located just a
5 minute walk from downtown San Juan del Sur and the cool bay of San
Juan.  

The house has one of the best views in all of San Juan del Sur and is
one of the few houses that you can hear the ocean day and night. 
There is no better place to catch the breathtaking nightly sunsets
than in a hammock overlooking the entire bay.  Add that to the cool
breeze that runs through the houses huge and plentiful screened
windows and there is no need for unhealthy air conditioning.  There
are 5 fans all around the house and you will acclimatize in no time
and limit the constant hot/cold struggle most tourists experience when
staying in concrete ice blocks with air conditioning.  

Best of all, you will have the opportunity to experience Nicaraguan
living before this hillside gets bought up by developers.  You have
super friendly Nicaraguan neighbors and you can practice Spanish, play
with the kids, dogs and chickens and really dive into real Nicaragua
while still having all the amenities like restaurants, bars, internet,
etc just a short walk down the hill.  If you are looking for a unique
experience "off the typical tourist trail", this is your place!

Finally, this house is a fundraising project for Peace Pedalers.  We
are using rental income to run and support various charity projects in

Vacation Rental Amenities

There are two large beds that sleep two people each, one bathroom with
hot water shower, toilet and sink, and modern kitchen with full size
Whirlpool fridge.  There is a gas barbeque and outdoor cooking area on
the amazing 2nd story rancho with a bar and 4 bar stools overlooking
the bay for eating and drinking.  A Sony stereo is ready to plug in
your Ipod or computer—just bring you music and cable headphone cable.
The kitchen has a blender, glasses, plates, toaster and all you need
to enjoy your experience in San Juan.  You can save big money by
making your own fresh smoothies, cooking a few meals a day and
starting your party at the house.

There is secure parking in front of two of our neighbors house so your
car is in good hands if you decide to rent one--but it's not necessary
as you can walk everywhere or hop a cab easily from down town. There
is also secure locked storage of all valuables in a large bodega for
surfboards, radios, computers, etc. for added peace of mind when out
on your daily adventures of Nicaragua.

Activities and Attractions

This is a great base for surfers and the next door neighbor Dimah has
a boat and can take you out to the great surf breaks.  Even if you
don't surf, Dimah or other fishermen in the village will be happy to
take you to perfect beaches for the day to relax and experience the
magical coastline of Nicaragua.  

There are tours that leave from town all over the place and with some
research you'll find plenty to keep you busy.  Or set up one, two or
even three of the hammocks on in the Rancho or under any of the trees
on the property and just do nothing.  It's okay to do nothing in
Nicaragua!

Vacation Rental Rates

$500 per week includes a caretaker.
$550 per week with weekly maid and caretaker.  

$750 for two weeks includes a caretaker
$850 for two weeks includes a caretaker and weekly maid

$1,200 per moth with caretaker
$1,300 per month with caretaker and weekly maid
