Perfect Beach Cottage

Review submitted: September 22, 2013   Date of arrival: September 7, 2013

This was my little family's first vacation husband and me, our daughter and her husband, and our 2 yr. old granddaughter. We loved the charm and the décor, and it had all the necessities for our 1 week stay. It was a safe, very pretty neighborhood and we kept the windows open without worry. It was also very quiet at night and we really enjoyed the spa and looking up at the moon and the stars. Our daughter and her husband made good use of the bicycles and surfboards provided and we used the beach chairs, beach toys and towels every day. the location was perfect, being so close to the beach and the Main St. area, and it was great having a washer and dryer. We had all our meals, except for 3 dinners at the cottage, and enjoyed eating out on the deck. I did a lot of reading in the beautiful little garden in the back, and at night, I liked to sit out on the front porch and watch the world go by while our kids headed into town to the sports bars or to get ice cream. The cottage was very clean and well-kept. The owners were very helpful and William came immediately when he heard we were having a problem with one of the toilets and fixed it right away. We enjoyed eating at Duke's, at Main St. on the beach. We sat out back overlooking the beach on the lanai (sunporch)and the hamburgers were delicious. Just know that for dinner, it is quite expensive. Ruby's is at the end of the pier and is a less expensive alternative, but it is more like a diner. Also, the owners recommended "The Sugar Shack" for breakfast, and our kids loved that, although my husband and I didn't go. They also took our granddaughter to the aquarium in Long Beach and the City of Huntington Beach Park, which she enjoyed. Two drawbacks to the cottage were that there were not enough white towels for all of us, so we had to wash them everyday and the third bedroom with the trundle bed had no door, so we had to be extremely quiet after the baby went to bed. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it. unfortunately, my husband and I won't be able to go back due to the fact that he has bad arthritis, and the extreme moisture and dew in the mornings and at night, caused him to be in a lot of pain all week. The weather was in the 70's and at night, in the 60's, and sunny everyday. the mornings were somewhat cold and a little foggy, but wore off by noon. the water was very cold, which we expected. Great waves for surfing, especially down by the pier.

Just Perfect

Review submitted: November 12, 2012   Date of arrival: October 29, 2012

Family of five with children aged 12, 9 and 4 had the most wonderful holiday at Huntington Beach. The Cottage was perfect for us, immaculately clean and every amenity catered for. The beds are really comfortable with quality linen, the hot tub was a big hit with the kids, the location is great, easy walk to everything you need as well as the beach. Thanks so much Cheryl, we loved our holiday at the Cottage!

The Magic Cottage on 9th Street

Review submitted: September 9, 2012   Date of arrival: August 4, 2012

Our family has been coming to HB for several years, even before children. As our family has grown and our son has a wife and 2 small grandchildren and our daughter is in college, our once a year family vacation accomodations have become more costly. Howvever, this property was exacly what we needed and so enjoyed. Walked everywhere and so close to the beach, it was a wonderful place to stay. The setup of the cottage was perfect with a nice deck to enjoy our morning coffee and evening meals and a small backyard to play with our grandson. The jacuzzi was especially nice at anytime of day and the magic was the fact we all slept like rocks each night. The only drawback could be if the 2 story property next door was rented. We were lucky as only the owner on one side was home and he was very quiet as was the neighborhood. We arrived the last two days of the OP Surfing event(planned) and other than our first night, it was very quiet. Plan to go back again. It is a great buy for the location and price.
