We had a Wonderful time at Shorewalk

Jackiedo (Warrington, UK)
Review submitted: April 26, 2010   Date of arrival: October 9, 2009

We had a wonderful time. The Condo was spacious and spotless with all the comforts of home. The site had lots of amenities (Swimming Pools, Tennis Courts, Fishing Lakes, Club House, Etc). The are an abundance of Golf Courses so we were spoilt for choice. There were plenty of restaurants in the area (Applebees, Outback, Golden Coral, Chines Buffets, and plenty of unique places to eat). The beach was beautiful with nice places to eat while we watch the lovely sunsets. When we wanted to eat in there was a large publix on the doorstep that had everything we needed and the condo provided all the cooking items we needed. All in all we cant wait to return and have just booked again.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Dated

adambern (Oxford, UK.)
Review submitted: April 25, 2010   Date of arrival: April 1, 2010

I want to be fair here and so I’ve waited two weeks to write this review.

On the plus side, the condo is a very good size for a family of four - it could almost be described as cavernous. Overall, Shorewalk has a planned holiday village – for British readers, think Centreparcs - feel to it. The two pools are good as is the tennis court. The free wifi in the clubhouse is a help and the condo has a good view of a lake area. There is plenty of parking and the area is perceptively quiet and safe.

On the negative side, this particular condo is very dated and in severe need of updating. The furniture, in many cases is quite untidy and damaged with chunks of the units chipped off; there are a number of stains on the chairs in the kitchen and the tables; the lamp shades – certainly in the master bedroom were very badly stained; the fans in the toilets were plastered in dust and filth; some of the fittings in the bathrooms have had their silvered metal coatings worn off by the passage of time; coatings on the mirrors are peeling off around the edges. The bedding was not good – the children’s bedding had to be changed before they’d get into bed. The collapsible sunbeds in the condo were really rusty. Finally, the carpet just didn’t feel clean.

The condo is, I believe, north facing. This means that you’ll not get any real quantity of sun on the enclosed patio/veranda. This, of course, may not be a negative depending on your point of view.

I’ve waited some time to write this review. Coming from the UK, I’ve nothing to compare this condo to except that the following week, we stayed in a slightly larger condo in Kissimmee for almost the same cost. Sure, that condo was much newer, but everything contained within it was clean, tidy and in very good condition.

Fundamentally, this property needs money spending on it to bring up to 2010 standards.

This has been written after re-examining the photos I took of the condo.
