Hubbard Lake Description

Hubbard Lake is Michigan’s second largest inland lake, and has
become a prime resort area and retirement spot. It is located in
northeast Michigan just 3 hours from Detroit and covers about 9000
acres, spanning three townships. This beautiful spring-fed lake is
filled with bass, perch, pike, trout and walleye and is a popular
destination for anglers.

A lovely golf club is located on the southeast edge of the lake.
Several nice restaurants are a short drive away, and the small town
of Hubbard Lake is one mile north of the lake and caters
to tourists.

Mt. Maria, on the south shore of Hubbard Lake, was listed by
National Geographic as one of the ten most beautiful lake views in
the country. At the top of Mt. Maria is the site of the Austin
Backus Memorial. The Mt. Maria Lodge, at the bottom of the hill, is
home to Hubbard Lakes most extensive museum of local history, with
hundreds of photos of the early residents of this area. Hubbard Lake
is located among the forests and hills of Alcona County. This
makes it perfect for a fall color auto tour. Wintertime on the lake
is equally as beautiful, with ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing
and cross-country skiing nearby.
