Steeped in a luscious portion of the Sonoran Dessert, tucked away on
5 acres of saguaro forest resides Desert Rose. (More photos
available on my PhotoBucket site - please email for the links.) Close
to the Tortolita Mt. range with mountain views on all sides, Desert
Rose is an oasis-like setting of trees, lush vegetation, wild flowers and
a vibrant, enchanting rose garden courtyard with a lovely Old
Spanish-style fountain. Over 40 climbers, floribunda, bourbon,
English, miniature, shrub and tea roses blooming when in season.
Landscaper/gardener residence on back portion of property.
An acre of mature landscaping is home to a huge bird and wildlife
population. (Many species of migrating birds populate the area.)
The Tortolitas are rich in Hohokam history (ancient indigenous
peoples). Hohokam wintering campgrounds (around the base of the
mountains) are still littered with pottery shards and surrounding
mountains are rich in petroglyph and Native American history.
The home is bright and colorful, cool and refreshing, warm and
relaxing, and has been referred to as 'feeling like being in your
own private resort' by past guests. Elegantly decorated with warm
antique furnishings bringing a sense of character that is inherent
throughout. Guests are graced with mesquite in the fireplace, a
tray of Hohokam pottery shards, seashells from the desert floor and
a loaf of homemade bread from a wonderful country baker in the
area. Delicious, chlorine and fluoride free well water, fresh air
and sunshine nurture body, mind and soul. (Jacuzzi and pond under
construction as of this listing - anticipated completion is late
fall 2007.)
