vacation rental description
Beaver Island is a remote and sparsely populated island located in the northeastern region of Lake Michigan, two hours by boat from Charlevoix, Michigan. The island is mostly forested and is thick with wildlife. The quaint little town of St. James is located at the northeastern corner of the island on gorgeous Paradise Bay. Public transportation to the island can be purchased from ferry and airplane services to and from Charlevoix.
The Island boasts lovely uncrowded beaches and many year-round outdoor recreational and sporting opportunities, such as boating, fishing, kayaking, hunting, hiking, camping, riding, biking, and cross-country skiing.
The Beaver Island community is tight-knit and small, but it provides for all the basic needs of visitors and year-round residents, including a well-stocked grocery store, a hardware store, a medical center, a library, marinas, churches, several gas stations, and of course, bars and restaurants. There are many unique local delights to discover, such as a fresh fish market, and the delightful "Toy Museum."
Island Aerie is a large, nearly-new, totally custom-built house of unique post & beam design. It is located on waterfront property overlooking the mouth of Paradise Bay. It is close enough to reach town by an easy walk or bike ride, yet secluded and adjacent to
natural areas. It has large, sunny first and second story decks overlooking the water and is graced with large windows which invite in light and the outdoors. The house is contructed of reclaimed barnwood which is used for the post & beam interior structure, allowing for open vaulted interior spaces and dramatic design.
The house has four bedrooms and sleeps 12 persons in beds. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with a king bed and master bathroom. The master bathroom has a two-person shower and Jacuzzi bathtub. There is a second bathroom on the first floor, with a
shower.
On the second floor is another bedroom with a king bed, a bedroom with two sets of bunk beds, and another bedroom with two sets of bunk beds and a twin. There is a full bathroom on the second floor. Also on the second floor is a TV room with a "wet bar" just inside the doorway to the second floor deck.
In the third floor loft room there is a twin bed, second TV, and foosball table.
All bed linens and bath towels are provided.
The house has only been available for rent since 2006, and all
appliances and furniture are nearly new. The kitchen includes a
dishwasher, microwave, gas range/convection oven, coffee maker, and
other counter-top appliances. It is fully stocked with plenty of
dishes and food preparation pans and utensils for feeding your group
home-cooked meals. There is a gas grill on the deck and a large stone firepit with benches out on the beach.
