Vacation Rental Description

This house is great for family reunions. It is very private, overlooks the ocean and is located 
between the town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

This very large and peaceful 12-bedroom summer house was built in 1914. 

Situated above Frenchman Bay with over 12 acres of woodlands, Sols Cliff House has some 
of the most 
magnificent views from Mt. Desert Island. On the inland side, the house has views of Acadia National 
Park's mountains for which the island is well known. The house, located a mile from Bar Harbor, is 
accessed by a long private driveway.  

12 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, the house sleeps up to 20 people if 2 rollaway beds are used.  There 
are 2 cribs as well.  It also includes a large dining room, a large living room, library, 
kitchen, butler's pantry and laundry room, six fireplaces (with the four on the ground floor 
available for use), a second floor porch overlooking the water, a long terrace along the water side 
of the house, two sheltered picnic areas in an Italian style loggia and a large, detached game house.

First Floor:

Grand, brick-floored entry foyer with fireplace offers splendid views through glass-
paneled doors to the brick terrace and Frenchman Bay beyond. Half bath and small fax room off foyer.

Spacious formal living room with fireplace and French doors (seven sets) leading to the terrace and 
outer grounds is wonderful for entertaining. Satellite television with DVD and VCR. 

Large dining room with fireplace and seating for up to 22, also with direct access via French doors 
to outside dining area and terrace with views of the bay, islands and Egg Rock Lighthouse. 

Library with fireplace, books and stereo. 

Butler's pantry, kitchen with seating for nine. Adjacent sitting and playroom for children 
with television and DVD and VCR. 

Laundry room. 

Second Floor:

Master bedroom suite with king bed, fireplace, walk-in closet/changing room and private 
bath with tub and shower. A porch with beautiful water views adjoins the master suite.

Four more bedrooms with single beds and shared bath are in the former "help's wing". 

Two roll away beds to be placed where needed.

Vacation Rental Amenities

Porch/Deck: Large brick terrace with furnishings offers beautiful, panoramic views of the water, 
outlying islands and the mainland beyond. Upper porch off Master Bedroom suite (see above). Sheltered 
outdoor picnic table in Italianate loggia.

Game House: Out the back door, a great facility for badminton, wall tennis, basketball and 
general recreation, especially good for kids on rainy days.

Appliances: Standard kitchen appliances include stove and dishwasher, two refrigerators and 
microwave. Washer and two dryers. Stereo. Satellite TV/VCR/DVD. Fax and answering machines.

Great hikes in Acadia National Park.

Visits to the Thuya, Rockefeller and Asticou Gardens as well as the Wild Gardens of Acadia. 

Golf, tennis, kayaking, sailing, swimming, snorkeling/diving, mountain biking, rock climbing, fitness 
center/gym, basketball court. 

Sightseeing tours by boat.

Sailing tours on the Molly Dodd Tall Ship.

Cinemas/movie theaters, museums.

Wildlife and bird watching. 

Deep sea fishing.

Antiquing and shopping in Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and the many other little towns on the 
island.
