Camp Relief

Robin (East Hampton, CT)
Review submitted: August 27, 2011   Date of arrival: August 13, 2011

Our family had such a wonderful and relaxing time at Camp Relief. Having our own cabins was great. The camps were so clean and stocked with all the supplies you need, even beach towels. We brought our own sheets and supplies but didn't need them. There was plenty of paper towels and toilet paper. We used our own paper plates and plastic cutlery before using the ones provided by the camp, but it was so nice to have the backup and not have to run out. On lobster night, there were plenty of big pots and supplies. The ground is a little unstable with roots around the main house, and it's very dark at night, but there are plenty of flashlights provided. The only things the camp could use is a contained fire pit or chiminea for those cold dark nights, a bathroom in the main house, and some outdoor lights on the cabins. Though there is a camp nearby, whoever is staying in there might not want everyone using their bathroom. Another great thing was there were no bugs, so it was easy to stay out at night. We would definitely go back next year. It was a great week.

A week at "Golden Pond"

Review submitted: August 24, 2011   Date of arrival: August 13, 2011

Arrived at Camp Relief to find that it was beautiful, clean and very picturesque. The description online did not do the camp justice. There were many more amenities than were mentioned (canoes, kayaks, games, books, paper towels, insect repellants)...the list goes on. The owner, who lives close by, was approachable to answer questions, but never involved herself into the camper's experiences and made us feel as though we owned the place while we were there.
The cottages were roomy and comfortable and the big building consisted of a big, screened porch, which led to a "living room" with fireplace, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen (coffee maker, toaster, blender, electric mixer, pots, pans, bowls)and on and on. It's maybe 15 to 20 minutes to the town of Belgrade, which has stores that carry everything one might need, stores that sell gifts and crafts, restaurants and more. Mt. Phillip is close buy and and a trip on the mail-boat was fun and informative.
The camp is very roomy and offers areas for gatherings as well as spots for reading or similar "alone-time" activities.
Some minor cons at the camp (not important to all)include spotty cell phone reception, no wi-fi or TV and the inability to have an open fire outside.
I would recommend Camp Relief to a friend and will have fond memories of my stay there for a very long time.

Great time at Camp Relief!

My family of 15 arrived at Camp Relief on August 13th. The property was fantastic. The pictures do not do this camp justice and the property was much more than expected. The property was extremely clean and well maintained. The owner provided 2 canoe's, 2 kayaks and a large gas grill that was not on the description. Owner also provided many other amenities not included in the description.

The family had a wonderful time and would recommend this camp to ALL!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, pet-friendly, sight seeing, tourists without a car
