vacation rental description
Address: Calle 47 #453-C, Centro, Merida, Yucatan, Mexico
Casa Guadalupe is a tranquil hideaway in the central historic district
of Merida. Merida is the capital city of the Yucatan, and the safest
city in Mexico!
[In case you haven't been to Merida: From the U.S., there are direct
flights into Merida's international airport from Houston (Continental)
and on certain days from Atlanta (Delta), and Mexicana flies from
Miami via Cancun.]
house rental amenities
The décor at Casa Guadalupe is mainly Mexican, but not too rustic.
(The plumbing is definitely "gringo," plus there's wireless high-speed
internet).
If you're like us, you'll spend most of your waking hours in the
spacious private courtyard - featuring a dipping pool that is
perfectly situated to escape the hot afternoon sun.
There are two bedrooms - one is in the back, the other in the front,
off the living room. Each has a queen-size bed, and there is a
queen-size futon in the living room, as well as a hammock that can be hung in any room or on the patio. Both bedrooms have wide doors that open onto the
courtyard, as well as remote-controlled air conditioning. Of course,
every room has an overhead fan.
There are two bathrooms - one inside the house, plus an outdoor shower
and a half bath conveniently located in the courtyard (just off the
rear bedroom).
The newly renovated gourmet kitchen (we love to cook!) is equipped
with the best stainless steel appliances. The counters and backsplash
are Mexican native Ticul stone and Talavera tile.
Dine al fresco in the enclosed courtyard just outside the kitchen. A
stairway leads to the upper terrace - perfect for catching an evening
breeze!
All utilities, including drinking water, are included, as well as
linens. Cleaning and laundry services are available.
activities and attractions in Merida Yucatan
Merida is a central location for exploring Mayan archeological sites.
Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Ek Balam, and many smaller gems,
such as Dzibichaltun, Kabah, Labna, Sayil and Xlapak, are all
within two hours' drive. Merida is also a vibrant cultural center,
with museums, concerts and shopping. And, the beach in
Progreso is only 18 miles away!
From Casa Guadalupe, stroll a few blocks down calle 47 to the
beginning of the beautiful Paseo Montejo. Every Saturday night, enjoy
the music, food, and artisans at the "Noche Mexicana." Two more
blocks brings you to the lovely Santa Ana square, with its market
(fresh tortillas, produce, flowers, spices), outdoor food court (try
the tacos and a fruit smoothie), and, of course, music! On your way
home, stop for a refreshing beverage served with some of Merida's best
"botanas" (free appetizers).
The Merida English Library sponsors many activities in addition to
lending books: Monday evening conversation groups to brush up on your
Spanish, Wednesday morning house tours, monthly social gathering, and
AA meetings.
Once you fall in love with Merida, you'll want to return again and again!
